    Disliked:

Owners were so friendly that they let people pitch their tents at 1am, loads of loud talking, banging car doors and even setting a car alarm off. Another arrived at 11pm and shone their lights through the tents and let their engine idle for at last 30 mins. Choked to sleep.

From the manager...

Ohh dear, I’m really saddened to read your review. Our last time for checking in 7.30pm. If guest have been held up in traffic then we accommodate but not after 9.00pm at the very latest. Unfortunately I will have to think about a new rule of locking the gates at the cut off time. I’ve been running my campsite for 18 years and this is the first time I have had this behaviour brought to my attention.
I’m really sorry that the thoughtless actions of others spoilt your stay.

Cheap & cheerful, good views & a quiet place to call home06/23/2025

Louise was very welcoming and offered me a choice of fields to park up in. The views are lovely and the site is quiet (apart from the 5am cockerel, but hey, it’s a working farm!). The campsite is rustic but has everything that you need-rustic but clean loos and showers, always loo roll, always handwash, and a washing up station with hot water, washing up bowls & washing up liquid provided. The loos had a bit of trouble (one got blocked, then the other flush broke) but both issues were sorted quickly and without fuss which is exactly what’s needed from an attentive host. Coniston is a 10-15 min drive along the scenic road so easy to nip back to town.

    Disliked:

Only minor negative is the hot water in the loo sinks didn’t work, but hot water was available immediately outside in the washing up area.

Filthy toilets and showers06/02/2025

    Views were stunning

    Disliked:

Toilets filthy, showers were cold, dirty and just a trickle. Vines were growing through the shower roof. The pictures of the toilets on the website are from 2014 and it's clear they have not been maintained.

The free roaming farm dogs peed on our tent doors twice and chased and growled at my on lead dog!

The ground was so stony we struggled to get tent pegs in.

There was a large group in the railway pods that were partying into the early hours. We had booked 2 nights but left early the next day.

We couldn't address any of these issues at the time because the owner's phone just rang out then went to answer machine several times

From the manager...

Friendly welcome and amazing views! Lots of free to use fire pits although they ask you to only use wood bought from them. Roaming sheep goats and ducks so make sure to zip your tent up!

    Disliked:

Turns out it’s a lot further than a 30min walk to a pub, a 4 mile round trip on foot which after a day walking proved a step too far

From the manager...

Sorry to hear the round trip to the village was 4 miles but you must have taken an alternative route. Its about 1 and a quarter miles down the old rail way line. Perhaps you went via the road.
