Excellent place for a stopover. Good flat hard standing pitches with electric, water and toilet disposal on hand, toilet facilities in pub. Lovely fields behind for dog walking. Food in pub excellent, good sized portions, you have to pre-book but that is no bother.

Yet another fantastic stay at Irondale. The site really is spot on, small, very clean with level pitches which all have a picnic table. The toilets are very clean and the food, beer and atmosphere in the very dog friendly pub are excellent.
Lots of decent walks with other Pubs/cafes within easy reach.

What a find. Lovely flat pitches each with grassed area and picnic table in a secure area to the rear of Chequers Inn.Pub toilets are accessible 24/7 and the owner couldn't have been more helpful we arrived on a tuesday ,after having to evacuate our previous site due to rising flood waters. The owner met us on arrival and, although the kitchen was closed, he kindly suggested that we could order a takeaway from a selection of menus he had in the pub if we didn't feel like cooking and could eat them in the comfort of the pub lounge.
    Would definitely stay again.
We were pleasantly surprised to wake up and find the neighbouring pitch is permanent home to a beautiful Eagle.

Nice little village and friendly locals.

    Disliked:

The opening hours of the pub were very limited even on New year's eve. The site owner was not the most welcoming I've ever met and the septic tank for the toilet waste was full to the brim on the day we left the site.

From the manager...

Wow just wow!! I know you won’t find another site as cared for clean/tidy as ours so your comment with regards to “has the potential “ is baffling. We have owned the pub for 23 years and open the hours that best suit us and not when you or anyone else thinks we should! By the way this review is for the “touring site” and not the pub! Every “septic tank” gets full at some point it was unfortunate this happened during your stay with everyone on Christmas/New Year shut down. It was emptied immediately on Jan 2nd. I suggest you have a look at other reviews on this site where you will see that for 2 years since opening our average review score is 96/100% - that says it all. Thanks for taking the time to write your review.

Stopped over for one night on the way down South as easy to get to from the M1. Large plots for motorhome, with electric hookup and toilets. Friendly cute pub on site.

The park is secure so no wondering animals in or out. The site is 6 pitches. It's quiet with good level space. The toilets are spotless and well lit. The couple who run it and the pub on site are so helpful and great hosts in the pub. It was so good we now returning at least once every 6 weeks.
