General

  • Friendly and sociable holiday village run by a British family
  • Between the mountains and the sea, under 30 minutes' drive from Málaga
  • Bar, bistro, small shop and regular events including pool challenges

Off for a sunny Costa del Sol hol in Málaga and prefer to save your cash for a few extra cocktails? How jolly sensible.

Ditch the hotel and pick a pitch instead at friendly, popular and British family-run Málaga Monte Parc under half an hour's drive from the glittery province capital, and a kilometre and a half from teeing off and bowling at Lauro Golf. The nearest beach, La Carihuela, is 20 minutes' drive away.

Málaga Monte Parc is a holiday village with an active, social vibe (paaaaaarty), running regular events like pool parties and evening entertainment by local musicians and performing artists. The reception area has a bar, a café and a small supermarket, with a log burner in the lounge area leading out onto decking.

Amenities include roomy pitches with electric and water hook-ups, as well as ladies' and gents' bright and separate shower blocks with hot water, changing space, mirrors and a large disabled-access space in each.

The pool has a disabled lift, plenty of umbrellas and sun loungers, and toilet facilities.

The area. There is a lovely pool but closed as it’s December.

    Disliked:

Toilets and showers are passable but appaling, when we were there they weren’t cleaned all the time so extremely bad some days, cracked tiles everywhere, disabled facility locked and unusable and showers small with no shelves and difficult to change in. The drains overflowed badly for days before it was sorted out and we had to move pitches. Pitches are ok but need tidying and half have a quite a big drop off the road. Facilities never seemed open and the day we arrived, we got told they having a staff party the next day so are closed to us. Was given no information at all and when I asked, the member of staff I spoke to was rude too and no idea who the others were. We were there for 9 nights in December 2019.

    The Pool was absolutely fabulous.
We sat out until around 8.30pm and the sun was still shining down on us!

    Disliked:

We didn't really dislike anything, we only stayed one evening and left early in the morning so did not have a chance to use any of the other facilities!

Local attractions

To Málaga first, of course… Málaga Monte Parc's local town of Alhaurín de la Torre has regular buses and trains making the 26-kilometre journey to Málaga and its 15 beaches, nightlife, parks and 28 museums... and did you know that Málaga is one of the very oldest cities in all the world? Tis, so peel yourself off the beach and go and see what's what historywise too.

Monte Parc's two local towns are within easy driving distance: Alhaurín de la Torre is five minutes away and Alhaurín el Grande under 10; both are packed with shops, bars and nightclubs along their ancient streets. If you want a beach day a bit closer to home than Málaga, try the big town of Torremolinos, also full of places to eat, drink and be most merry indeed. The site team also recommends the shopping, food, amusement arcades, bowling alley and go-karting of the Plaza Major; from here, get the Renfe to Málaga or straight to Málaga airport.

Away from the glitz, the Alhaurín de la Torre area is well known for its cycling trails, whether you want to hurl down slopes on a mountain bike or pedal soothingly along taking in the scenery of the Spanish countryside. Several cycle trails start at the foot of the site and there are bike shops in town to rent you your wheels.
