  • Half an hour’s drive from Marblehall and three hours from Johannesburg
  • Swimming pool, game drives, hiking, hunting, horse riding and fishing
Rove around Inibos Luxury Bush Camp on wildlife-watching sojourns in South Africa’s Limpopo Province; this site is set between the hills of the Bushveld eco-region and is home to 22 species including giraffe, waterbuck, eland, hyena, leopard and klipspringers. With over 100 plants, it’s also a fab place for botany buffs. Hike among the plants or hunt the animals – controlled crossbow and rifle shooting are allowed at the reserve. You could also take a game drive and spot creatures in their natural habitat, then go horse riding and fishing in the bushveld. Alternatively, simply relax at the swimming pool with a drink from the bar in the leisure area. This 700-hectare site also has sand pitches, each with a built-in braai, water, power and a floodlight, so you can unwind under the big South African skies. Pretoria is two hours and 20 minutes’ drive from the park and Johannesburg is three hours away.

Local attractions

As well as all the wildlife-spotting chances you have around the campsite, there are several other protected reserves within easy distance. Pack a picnic and eat it around a braai in Schuinsdraai Nature Reserve (25 minutes’ drive), where you have the chance to spot wildebeest, antelope and zebras among many, many other animals. Wild, untamed Bewaarkloof Nature Reserve (two hours) is a smashing spot for off-roading adventures along dry river beds and through mighty mountain passes. For more sedate pursuits, there’s fishing for bass and carp at Arabie Dam (half an hour), and you can practise your golf swing on the course at Groblersdal Golf Club (55 minutes). If you’re after active family days out, head for Mkhombo Nature Reserve (an hour and 20 minutes) for quad biking adventures and a panoramic aerial cable trail, while Witvinger Nature Reserve (an hour and 40 minutes) is a haven for hikers and cyclists.
