General
- Park with pine forest to the back and the Tyrrhenian Sea to the front
- In Scalea with Spiaggia dell'Arco Magno beach a 15-minute drive away
- Swimming pools, Jacuzzi, hydrotherapy shower, bar and restaurant
Che bello… now this is a sight to behold. Pantera Rosa Village, backed by thick pine forest and with the clear waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea to its front, is in a swish setting minutes on foot from the town trappings of Scalea in one direction and its beach in the other.
Also boosting the chances of a top trip are excellent facilities including two pools (one for the adults with a hydromassage shower and Jacuzzi and another for the bambinos), along with a terrace for steaming oneself under the hot Italian rays. As this park’s been running for 30 years, it does indeed know a thing or two about helping travellers have a happy hol.
But what of Scalea? Set in the province of Cosenza, this handy place has many a pizzeria and wine bar to ply as a digestivo after days breathing in the salty sea air from a deckchair set up on the beach. Needing to balance out full afternoons spent horizontal? The Torre Talao, which you can climb for views over the shoreline, is less than 10 minutes’ walk...
If you don’t mind a drive on your hol, splendid Spiaggia dell'Arco Magno beach is 15 minutes up the coast and boat trips to Dino island start off from around five minutes’ car journey away in San Nicola Arcella.
When gearing up for a trip to Italy’s grassy green inland area, Pollino National Park is an hour away and worth sticking on the itinerary if only to visit the authentically Albanian villages of San Paolo and San Constantino or fish at the Lago di Monte Cotugno lake.

Local attractions
The site is close to plenty of activities of a cultural nature, including the Hellenistic Antiquarium di Torre Cimalonga archaeological site a mere 15 minutes’ walk away and the Great Arch Cave (also known as Grotta del Saraceno, a 10-minute drive).
Caverns aplenty line this geologically impressive area, from the Cave of the Sheep out at sea (10 minutes) to the rock-hewn Madonna Della Grotta church 15 minutes away.
A caboodle of culture’s also within easy reach at the Ruins of Cirella for Roman roams or the handsome San Michele castle, both 15 minutes' drive too. And for a city packed with age-old buildings, try the province’s capital of Cosenza and climb its Norman castle (an hour and 30 minutes away).
Back to the coast, diving trips in Scalea can be organised if you want to explore Italy underwater as well as above ground.
