In need of some relaxing hols away from work, commitments and your daily life? How about a sand-, sea- and vin-filled getaway on the Côte d’Azur? If your response to that is a resounding Ta very much, make tracks for Camping Les Playes, a family-friendly site less than 10 minutes’ drive from the seaside resort of Six-Fours-les-Plages in the Var department of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. Les Playes is well placed for daily beach forays: it’s about five minutes’ drive from swimming and seafronts at Bonnegrâce beach and Plages des Bandol; Le Pradet is half an hour away if you’re after something more watersportsy. More of a sipper than a dipper? Les Playes is in that sweet spot between Provence and the Mediterranean where vineyards flourish, and the site is less than 40 minutes from the start of the Terroir La Londe wine route at Clos Cibonne. Continue your relaxation back at site, where you can claim a spot next to the heated pool (be sure to allow yourself some quality time with the massage jets for peak zen) or have a leisurely game of pétanque. A kids’ club during high season will give you a few hours of peace and quiet in the mornings. Reunite the family for dinner and themed nights at the on-site restaurant during high season (and by request in September), or venture out into the wider world at one of the many restaurants within 10 minutes' drive.

Beaches aren’t the only way to get a kick out of the outdoors at Camping Les Playes – the site is half an hour’s drive from the edge of Calanques National Park, where you can explore massifs, poke around coves and fishing towns, and trek along kilometres' worth of stunningly scenic trails. Continue your wanderings off the mainland by taking a ferry (from Toulon or Giens la Tour Fondue) to the island of Porquerolles, tripping through its nature reserve, vineyards and monastery, then continuing on to Port-Cros and Embiez. If you’re craving urban vibes, make your way along the coast to Saint-Tropez in one direction or Marseille in the other. Stick around Marseilles for museums, galleries, cathedrals, the sea-bound Château d’If and the spectacular gardens at Palais Longchamp. Kids looking for a little more action? Visit the animals at ZOA Parc, spend an evening on the rides at Magic World in Hyères, get splash happy at Aqualand Saint Cyr sur Mer, or get the adrenaline pumping at the OK Corral, all within 45 minutes of Les Playes.
