Powered grass campsite

Liked: We booked this site last minute to break up a long journey, and what a gem of a campsite! A real family feel; the campsite owners were so helpful and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. They lent us a European adapter for the electric hook up and were always on hand. The pitches were divided up with bushes, shrubs and plants, and were across different levels. Facilities were relatively basic, but clean. The pool was good fun and the kids had a great time making friends and playing together. We would definitely return!!

Disliked: Rather a lot of wasps around.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: Great location, easily walkable to the village for coffee and pastries plus a couple of really decent takeaways. 12 minutes in the car to a few different supermarkets. What we loved the most though were our hosts for the 4 days we stayed there, the customer service was above and beyond, some of the best we’ve experienced!! Extremely friendly and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. We even had the offer of help to buy train tickets to Paris from the local station to make sure we got what we needed! Although some of the facilities are a little dated the site is landscaped and maintained beautifully, our kids are 10 and 7 and they had the best time in the pool and running around making friends, playing boules and table tennis. All the locals we met were friendly too. We loved the communal gazebo, again a bit old but a great place to hang out and chat with new friends. All in all, this place is dated in some areas but perfectly functional with all the essentials you need and a lovely, well maintained place to stay with the best hosts we’ve had the pleasure to meet. If we have chance we will definitely return and would highly recommend to anyone who wants a great, friendly and welcoming place to stay!

Disliked: We only booked 4 nights :(

Local attractions

Paris – does it need much by way of introduction? However many times you’ve been, it's always worth another visit, whether you’re ticking off major sights like the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame or poking around at the shops and cafés of Montmartre and the Marais. Getting to the city will take you about an hour by car or train. If you’re on a family holiday, it's highly likely that Disneyland Paris (half an hour’s drive) will feature on your itinerary – it is, after all, the most visited theme park in Europe. For lower-key days out with the kids, try Parrot World (half an hour), or meet the big cats at Feline Park (40 minutes). Not travelling with children? A tour of the Champagne houses around Château-Thierry (20 minutes) should certainly be on the schedule, and the golfers among you may like to play on the Arnold Palmer-designed course at Crécy Golf Club (half an hour). There are a couple of intriguing museums to visit nearby too, in the Museum of the Great War in Meaux (half an hour) and Louis Braille Museum (40 minutes).
