Five miles east of Edson on Highway 16 in Western Alberta lies East of Edson RV Resort; it’s surrounded by spectacular countryside and set in an alpine forest, with heaps of outdoor pursuits nearby. Venture out to explore the surrounds via quad biking and shaded woodland hiking trails, or if you’re more of a waterside sort, angle to go fishing close by instead. In winter, the Hornbeck cross-country ski area, 20 minutes' drive from base, is a topping spot to bring the family for snowy adventures across the local terrain.
The site is furnished with loads of fab leisure facilities to keep guests’ stays outdoorsy and active, like a lake, a miniature golf course and an aqua driving range, as well as volleyball and badminton courts and a playground to occupy small folk.
If you’re into wildlife spotting, there’s plenty around to see, with resident chipmunks and rabbits running freely around the forest, and frequent visits from local ducks too.
When it comes to pitching up, accommodation areas are either densely shaded and sheltered by trees or open and bright, so you’ve got your pick of places to plonk yourselves across the park.
Campfires are allowed and essentials are stocked and sold at the park’s very own convenience store.

Local attractions
Exploring the local quad biking trails is a topping way to see the local area, or if you’re fonder of a foot-based adventure plenty of hiking trails crisscross the lands around to get you out and about this way too.
Fishing is also a big thing around Edson, with Fickle lake 40 minutes away by car for trying your luck with the northern pike and walleye that inhabit its waters. If you’ve got the family in tow and want to keep them busy while you’re off catching fine fishy specimens, swimming, power boating, canoeing and kayaking and keeping watch for birds of prey and migrating waterfowl are all outdoorsy possibilities here.
In winter the outdoor options extend to ice fishing and cross-country skiing, with the Hornbeck ski area a short 20-minute pootle from base.
