General

  • Peaceful well-maintained park, eight miles from the beach at Newport
  • Around a scenic lake for roach, tench and carp fishing
  • Close to spectacular walks and bike rides around the Preseli Hills

The highest pub in the county is under five minutes' walk from peaceful Rosebush Holiday Park Pembrokeshire – and if you've been to this cracking part of Wales before, you'll know that means tiptop views come as standard.

As they do on site too: Rosebush is laid out around a handsome ornamental lake (pic time, please), against a backdrop of the Preseli Hills to the north. Trees, woodland and green fields surround the site; around the region, there are more photoworthy scenes from Foel Cwm Cerwyn, the highest peak in the Preseli Hills and reachable within an hour's walk, or heading towards the spectacular Pembrokeshire shoreline at Saundersfoot, Tenby and around the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

The site is a few miles walk from the hamlet of Rosebush, and eight miles from the seaside at Narberth. It's a secluded place deep in countryside, with a quiet vibe, a relaxed feel, and many a serene spot to sit at around the lake. Fishing (for roach, tench and four kinds of carp) is available for a daily charge.

Amenities include showers and toilets, chemical disposal, gas sales, a launderette and a washing-up area. Wifi is available, but you may just prefer to gaze out at the scenery before you instead... at the lake, the surrounding hills or at your nosh and ale at that pretty local pub.

Beautiful location, excellent facilities - all brand new. Welcoming hosts. Everything was perfect!!
Just beware. They don't accept card payment - wasn't aware of that, no O2 reception, no wifi. Maybe it was even better for that.

  • Liked:

Flattish sort of pitch, scenery, nice walks, dog friendly, WiFi available but not used on this occasion.

    Disliked:

Distance from the parking to the pitch as you could not drive on the grass due to it being peat based but then put us in the furthest corner away from the facilities. Whilst we know we have a large tent we pitched where instructed then we were part laid out we were asked to move just in case they had other bookings. We were the only tent from the wed -sat.
The facilities whilst appeared fairly new the bins were not emptied and from a man's perspective they don't need to see certain products in bins a simple swing bin in the toilets would hide this fact, handwashes were too big for the corner sinks and had to step out of the toilet to get a hand towel by the washing up sink. Fan in bathroom didn't work and the plug hole was blocked on the one occasion with hair which wasn't from just that morning which I duly emptied. Even though advertised laundry facilities I assume these were under construction. There does need to be a note that there is a pub which backs onto the tent pitches which whilst a nice facility when people are swearing at the end of stop tap it would not be acceptable to those with children. Whilst this is not at the owners control it does need to be noted that there maybe late night noise with voices and vehicles.

From the manager...

Was quite disappointed to have read your review and found so much you disliked about our site!
I do Apologise that you rate accommodation 2/10 however the accommodation was in fact your very own tent.
Toilet and shower blocks were cleaned twice daily and checked upon frequently.
Laundry facility is available on site had anyone enquired and the NEW purpose built laundry is almost complete.

From the manager...

Would like to point out that this couple came onto our site, used all facilities, disposed of their rubbish, filled their water tank and drove off without paying!
Wifi is available at the office and if requested then they would have been given the code.
TV signal shouldn't have been a problem

Local attractions

That local pub is Tafarn Sinc, dishing up eats and drinks among the spectacular scenery of the Preseli Hills. The Rosebush team also recommends stocking up on beers from the award-winning Seren Brewing Company half a mile from the park, and on local dairy produce from Pantmawr Farmhouse Cheese, under five minutes' stroll away.

It's a drive of 10 minutes south to the Llys y Fran Country Park and Reservoir, for sailing, waterside cycling, walking and trout fishing, all among more spectacular views and a 100-foot dam. For coastal hikes, access the Pembrokeshire Coast Path from Tenby for the eight-mile hike to Manorbier Castle, a Norman fortress standing above the beach, or start off from The Parrog at Newport for treks to Traethmawr, Morfa Head and Ceibwr.

Family days are easily sorted at Oakwood Theme Park, half an hour away at Narberth, and at Folly Farm, within 35 minutes at Kilgetty.
