Great family run site, nearby beaches 09/17/2018

We have stayed at this site before so this was our second visit and I would definitely visit again. The site is well looked after with plenty of pitches. We stayed on an electric pitch with our tent which was behind some bushes out of the wind, the pitch was good surface and easy to hook up to electric. There is a games room here which has fruit machines and a pool table, although we didn’t go in there so there may be more, there is a shower and toilet block and all the water and disposal facilities. The toilets and shower blocked was clean every time I went in there which is something that we find most important on our visits. The floor was mopped when there was muddy footprints, and although we took our own toilet roll there was plenty available in there. We took our two dogs with us so the site is dog friendly. There is also a pub down the road The Pelcomb Inn which is welcoming and serves great food, they are dog friendly in the bar area so you don’t have to leave them at site.
The site is based around 5 miles from the closest beach which we could find, and there are nearby amenities such as food shops and fast food outlets.
Overall we would definitely recommend a stay a time this family run site for a pleasant clean stay with close by beaches and things to do.

Location.! The website says the beach is 2 miles away when in fact its 8. The road is busy all the time. We never received our 10% discount voucher for the local pub which in a way was a blessing it was like something from the 70s. The bins were overflowing, only two drinking water taps for the whole site. There is another field behind the touring field which looks like a scrap yard with old caravans and bit of astroturf roll up and dumped there. The pitch was on a slope and very muddy if we didnt have a 4x4 we would not have got off.
We were booked in for 10 nights but only stayed 4 then we moved to another site!

We recently booked a stay with you through Pitch Up for 7 nights, week beginning the 25th of August. We arrived at your site at 2:15 pm.
It appeared that the reception door was blocked full of rubbish with no one around to book us on. We waited for over an hour, even knocked on the house door.
We looked round the site disappointed that it did not live up the web sites impression. Toilets had birds flying in and out leaving dirt and mess on the toilet and shower floors. There was a strong smell of drains. Generally the site did not appear as well kept as it did on the web site at all. The site was surrounded by old rotting caravans with very muddy pitches.
As time was getting on we had to make a decision to move on and find alternative accommodation which of course incurred more expense.
In view of our disappointment for the family we feel it only fair that we receive a full refund. Clearly this site has been let go and it is so unfair to misrepresent a site. It's clear from the T and C's that Pitch Up don't actually check these places out or take any responsibility for standards so it's very doubtful we will receive a refund. Won't be booking this way again I'm afraid.

What was not to like about this place, the minute ... 08/19/2018

What was not to like about this place, the minute you enter the park to the day you leave you are made to feel welcome, to the point where you feel like you have known these people for years.
It were our first time out in our trailer tent and wasn't sure what we were doing. But gerarint were there straight away helping us, above and beyond his call of duty.
Some of the negative comments in reviews leave my jaw on the floor. If people want five star holidays, go and stay in a Hilton holiday, but as far as caravan and camping goes this site is 5 star. If there is anything you require the family bend over backwards to help you and are available throughout. No wifi isn't supplied, but who cares, I wanted my children away from their technical devices but there is no issues with signal in the site. Out of all my holidays this is the one my daughter cried all the way home because we were leaving. Children and dog friendly with clean well kept facilities for both, we will be returning next year. A massive thankyou gerarint, his family and staff for allowing us to make some amazing memories and de stress from real life.

Anyone visiting the site I would recommend you visit the pelcombe inn, the food and services are to die for.

Local attractions

Feel peachy as you peek around the former county town of Pembroke, about half an hour south from Dunston Hill. A Norman settlement that’s anything but normal - it was the birthplace of King Henry VII and has a mighty castle overlooking both the town, where you’ll be spoilt with the choice of restaurants, shops, pubs and cafés, and the surrounding conservation area, including Mill Pond, which is teeming with chances to spot kingfisher and otters.

Architecture admirers can take to the ruins of Monkton’s Benedictine Priory (just a stroll along the pond) and the town’s historic churches and Georgian and Tudor buildings, with camera in hand to poke about the interesting nooks and crannies. You can also muse on the museums amassed in these learned parts - vintage car enthusiasts will be driven wild with excitement at the Motor Museum in Keeston (only one mile north).

Skomer, Ramsey, Caldey...the islands off the Pembrokeshire coast are pretty and plentiful. Visitors of any inclination, from adrenaline-fuelled aquatic types to those who prefer to calmly cruise a coastline, can hop aboard traditional boats for exploring the islands’ bays and landing trips, or hold on tight for a high-speed ride around the open waters (maybe just hold off on the full English that morning…).

Either option will show twitchers the delights of guillemots, gannets and razorbills, as well as some scenery to take your breath away - which reminds us, the puffins shouldn’t be missed either. Look out for the grey seals and harbour porpoises in the water too.

With more than 50 beaches along the coastline, there’s no excuse not to pull on a wetsuit and jump feet first into the watersports on offer in Pembrokeshire. St Bride’s Bay is just to the west of Dunston Hill and the beaches of Newgale Sands, Broadhaven and Little Haven are a little less than five miles from the site.

While sandcastle building takes a back seat, kayaking, sailing, windsurfing and diving are available in selected areas, as is fishing for those of a more ‘sit back and wait’ disposition (and with the tepid temperatures of the Gulf Stream passing through Pembrokeshire, we can hardly blame you).

Go and kart the kids off to Heatherton World of Activities near Tenby (just over 20 miles away) for all-year-round fun and games including a maize maze, archery, robot wars, and a driving range.

Can’t think of anything more to tire the boisterous kidlings? We can... Canaston Bridge in Narbeth (around 20 minutes by car) is home to Oakwood Theme Park where you’ll find Vertigo and Megaphobia: no, not ailments you’ll come away with, but thrill-seeking rides which explain why Oakwood is one of the top ten theme parks in the country.
