  • Quiet glamping site in the Angus Glens with exceptional views
  • A 20-minute drive from Cairngorms National Park; Dundee 40 minutes
  • Direct access to the Cateran Trail; bedding and towels included
Have yourself a Highland adventure at Eco Pods Kilry, a cosy glamping site in a rural location between the Cairngorms National Park and Dundee. This peaceful place to unwind has a small selection of smart pre-pitched accommodation units in the Angus Glens with direct access to the terrific Cateran Trail, making it a great base for walkers, cyclists and those who love their wildlife. Each wooden pod sleeps up to three, with a comfy double and a camp bed provided. Bedding and towels are included too, and up to two dogs are allowed to come along and stay with you (a surcharge applies). The units are ensuite for extra comfort and total privacy, with a nifty kitchenette included if you fancy self-catering. Outdoors, a barbecue and firepit are provided for evenings of sitting by the embers and gazing up at the stars… Eco Pods Kilry is a mile outside of Kilry village and the lovely river Isla. This is a rather remote spot, and it will take about 20 minutes to drive to the nearest pubs, shops and supermarkets in Kirriemuir or Blairgowrie. Closer by, though, there are also a couple of walker-friendly coffee shops around Lintrathen (10 minutes' drive).

Local attractions

If you’re banking on some beauty spots while you make your way around the Highlands, this is a good place to be. First off, there’s the Reekie Linn Waterfall (five minutes' drive) for a trail alongside the gorge or the Loch of Lintrathen (10 minutes), a reservoir where birdwatchers or hiking fans will be in a prime spot. Get to some more hiking or wildlife spotting… there's a great deal of this around Glenisla (15 minutes) or up in the mountains of the Cairngorms National Park (20 minutes). Meanwhile, those of you who have a thing for fishing on your holiday might want to get down to the Lintrathen Angling Club (10 minutes) for their trout fishing. As for the towns, well, there’s a museum and gallery in both Blairgowrie (20 minutes) and Forfar (30 minutes) – and the latter has tales of witch hunts that took place there in the 17th century. There are the cities too… perhaps fab food and shopping all around Perth (40 minutes) and in Dundee (40 minutes) too, where there's the Discovery Point with the remains of a ship that took sail to the Antarctic way back. Other nostalgic-type places include the Scone Palace (35 minutes) and its huge grounds or Glamis Castle (25 minutes), the inspiration for Shakespeare’s play Macbeth.
