General

  • 95-acre park in one of the nine glens of Antrim
  • Views towards Rathlin Island, Islay and the Mull of Kintyre
  • Traditional music, bar, restaurant and fly fishing

More glens? Yes please.

You’ll be belting out the lyrics of Green Glens of Antrim as soon as you set eyes on this park, set in an Area of Outstanding Beauty in one of the nine Antrim glens. Glenmore Caravan and Camping Park is between Ballintoy and Ballycastle, in prime position for some of the most eye-watering scenery in the country – you might be tempted to say ‘in the world’ when you see it...

Glenmore is a whopper of a park at 95 acres and there are several different camping areas available, so you can pitch up with the kids or hide away with your other half in a romantic corner to take in the viewpoints across to Rathlin Island, the Mull of Kintyre or Islay. Newbies are well catered for: just ask the very friendly owners if you need help with your van, tent or how to pick something to do from the vast range of activities in the area if you’re using the park as your touristy base at any time of the year.

Northern Ireland is great for fishing but anglers won’t have to go too far with the fly fishing lake right on site stocked with brown and rainbow trout, before trying some champ in the restaurant and settling in for the night in the Glenmore bar. If you're new to fly fishing, lessons are available and guests can hire rods.

If your family or suffering other half are threatening divorce as you sing Green Glens of Antrim yet again, they’ll be easily pacified: the two young women resident at the park are members of the traditional Irish band Tir na Og and can usually be persuaded to give a few songs and tunes any night. Harmony reigns...

Please note

A charge of £1.00 ($1.30) applies for the use of the shower.

No bachelor/bachelorette parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Fishing for brown and rainbow trout is available on site, starting from £10 per person.

Great nights stay at Glenmore. John was an absolute gentleman. Pitched our tent on the hill overlooking Rathlin Island. John chatted to us at the campsite bar for a nightcap. Fantastic view for eating breakfast to! Took my 9 year old son Jude to see Kinbane Castle which was only a couple of minutes away by car. Again - stunning scenery. Then onto Dunseverik Castle (not as much castle left as Kinbane but still a beautiful setting). Had coffee at a lovely cafe at Portbradden. Then onto Ballycastle for the Auld Lammas Fayre were we had burgers and yellow man. Great bit of Father-Son time!

The facilities block was appalling. The time we were there we saw no one clean the toilets or put any toilet roll in, there were no sanitary bins in the ladies. The showers were appalling. Pay £1 for 6 minutes but it takes 3 minutes to get warm, and comes out in 3 lines of water, not like an actual shower. Wasn't best pleased. And no WiFi.

Remote but great location for visiting Antrim Coast08/29/2019

Beautifully remote and quiet - water in taps actually much too hot! Showers cost £1 extra for 6 minutes - cubicles in a very glamorous "shed" so not very warm for undressing and drying oneself. No plug/stopper for the camper kitchen sink (and only one sink) which has push on taps. A warm welcome on arrival. All areas lovely and fresh and clean.

Loved the location, loved the viewing point on the site and everyone was warm and friendly.

    Disliked:

The hot water taps were restricted to a second so washing up was tricky. The bathrooms weren’t overly clean and whilst we didn’t mind paying a pound for a shower it was really annoying having to press the button every few seconds to keep it running.

Noise from main road, especially cyclists on early morning. Toilet too far away, especially when you have small children and need to reach it in 1min-mission impossible. No kitchen. No electronic pitches for tents.

A small site which felt private and safe in a nice setting. Good, level hard pitch with electricity and protected by trees. Good facilities - hot showers, hairdryer, washing machine, bar and restaurant (everything we needed!). The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful.

Local attractions

Both Ballintoy and Ballycastle are on the coast road to Giant’s Causeway, the alleged stomping ground of giant Finn McCool and the only UNESCO World Heritage Site in Northern Ireland. Make a day of it by quivering on the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge (don’t look down) and calm your nerves afterwards with a toddy and a tour at Bushmills Distillery.

Ballycastle is the ferry point for Rathlin Island six miles off the coast. This RSPB reserve and tiny island is a must-see: get the Puffin Bus to the west coast to peer at the colourful critters up close, then stroll south to see the seals and the ruined stone cottages from days of yore.

For day trips, the seaside towns of Portrush and Portstewart are where many Northern Irish folk meander to on a sunny day: Barry’s Amusements in Portrush is an institution, and Portstewart has to be visited for a roll down the sand dunes.
