Looe Yurts: View to the sky

General

  • Yurts with valley views on a rural site five minutes' drive from Looe
  • Beaches within walking distance; 250 metres from the coast path
  • Private washroom in utility block; shared kitchen/ dining facilities

Come along to a part of Cornwall where country meets coast: Looe Yurts is a rural site surrounded by gorgeous farmland and views over the valley to Looe, which is around a five-minute drive away.

The South West Coast path is 250 metres away from here, so it’s easy to get out for walks to the beaches at Seaton and Millendreath or into Looe for shops, pubs and dog-friendly eateries galore. Paddleboarding, sea kayaking and a beachside bar/bistro are all within walking distance, as are plenty of places to get out for a rural ramble.

Accommodation on site is in spacious yurts decked out with comfy beds, a woodburning stove and seating. Each one also has a private washroom with swish hot shower, and a deck area with outdoor seating for taking in the views. A barbecue is provided, and kitchen facilities and an indoor dining area are not far away for sorting meals should the weather not smile on such activities.

It’s highly recommended that you spend a bit of time simply hanging out in the open air at this site – you’re likely to have a gentle soundtrack of sheep, goats and chickens going about their business, and you may just spot an owl or buzzard overhead. Come the evening, the lack of light pollution often leads to some splendid stargazing.

Please note

No cars/motorcycles at the site. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The park caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

No bachelor/bachelorette parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

After a very warm and informative welcome by Andrew about the area and the Yurt tents we were taken through fields of horses, chickens, lambs and goats which added to the country experience to see our beautiful Yurt tent. Over looking a gorgeous country side valley the Yurt had everything you would want. A stove for burning wood in the night as it does get chilly, a lovely bed and areas to sit in both inside and outside the Yurt tent.
You can have a BBQ outside and even cook your own breakfast in the morning with the dining cabin provided with all the amenities you would need for a proper fry up.
Lots of coastal routes to take a jog or just walk down to Millendreath and catch the sunset or an evening drink at the local beach bar. This was an experience I would definitely love to repeat

The yurt was excellent. It had everything that you could possibly need and the private bathroom was an added bonus. The log burner was delightful and kept the yurt lovely and warm. Andrew was an amazing host and provided plenty of information on the surrounding area. The kitchen was well equipped. All in all the perfect place to relax and unwind.

The whole stay was perfect from start to end. Andrew was so accommodating and friendly from the minute we arrived, we had a full tour of the site and he could not do enough for us. The children had the opportunity every morning to help feed the animals which the loved and they got very attached to the friendly sheep. The yurt was clean and practical with the most amazing views of Looe. The shared dining area was very handy and the private washroom and toilet was an added bonus. The other family's staying were also lovely and we were lucky to get amazing weather to enjoy the deck. We will definitely be returning.

Upon arriving we were greeted by the owner, Andrew, who was very friendly and welcoming. Andrew showed us around the farm and to our yurt. The yurts were amazing.
Three yurts all near each other, but still seem really private from the way that they are set back from each other. The views were gorgeous looking out over the meadows.
The yurts are furnished well inside and have a lovely feel to them. Outside of the yurt you have your own decking area with a bbq and a outdoor log burner and a table and chairs which is lovely to see the sunset.
If you get a clear night it’s amazing for stargazing.
The kitchen has everything you need from cutlery & kettles to a pizza oven. It’s a nice space for breakfast in the morning and chance to chat to some
of the other visitors / share location tips etc.
You get your own bathroom designated to your yurt which is brand new and had no problems with this. Only thing I would say is that there’s no plugs for a hair dryer apart from in the dining room which can be a bit tricky if people are eating their breakfast.

Andrew was fab. He was really chatty, asked whether you wanted to feed the sheep in the morning, gave us suggestions of where to eat / visit and was always around if we needed anything.

Distance wise - you can walk down to millendreath which is a nice little cove with a couple of Beach bars on it and you can continue to walk into looe. The walk back is a killer but beautiful nonetheless.

We absolutely loved our get away to looe yurts and will definitely return. Would recommend to any of

Local attractions

As the Wild Futures monkey sanctuary is a minute’s drive from this park, there’s surely no excuse not to drop in and peer at the protected primates at this nonprofit establishment.

Beaches and the coast in general are also easy to access: mosey to Millendreath for watersports aplenty or set off on sea-fishing trips from Looe harbour (both five minutes).

For inland activities, amble to Adrenalin Quarry and make the most of the ziplines, open-water swimming and climbing here (15 minutes); more sedate times are to be had during visits to posh pads from days of yore like Lanhydrock House (half an hour) and the National Trust estate of Cotehele (35 minutes).

Serene saunters around pretty Polperro fishing village (20 minutes), which has a heritage museum and model town to take a look at, also get a thumbs up across the board from travellers, while the Eden Project (40 minutes) is popular with botanical buffs who want to cast their eyes over plants sourced from across the planet.

Must see

  • National Marine Aquarium (12.6 miles)
  • Eden Project (15.4 miles)
  • Lost Gardens of Heligan (18.5 miles)

National Trust

  • Cotehele Mill (11.9 miles)
