Liked: Really enjoyed the peaceful nature of the site. Jame (owner) is about as friendly and accommodating as they come. He has a real love for nature and it shows in his attitude and outlook. It’s encouraged (but not mandatory) for communal eating (round the fire pit) and we stayed 12 nights and would say 8-9 of those were had there in great company with other guests which generated a wonderful shared experience. Kids (7 year old twins) loved the whole experience and we have already booked a return visit in May. We like our creature comforts but it was worth the compromise to feel like you were a kid again and were camping in the woods, great family break.

Bamboo safari tent
Liked: I love this site. James, the owner, has worked SO HARD to build it up. The tent pitches are well spaced so you have incredible privacy. The beds are incredibly comfortable, and plenty of blankets if the night is cold - we all slept better here than we have in months. the attention to detail is wonderful. The communal campfire, protected from the elements by a huge parachute is the perfect spot for evening cooking over the grill or toasting marshmallows over a separate campfire - lots of comfy chairs around to relax in. Gated, so safe for little ones. There's also a gas stove for less adventurous cooking and a kettle. My favourite spot is the breakfast bar/coffee perch in the kitchen area, looking through to glimpses of the view beyond the trees, but most importantly the birdfeeders, and the incredible numbers and variety of birds they attract - I could lose hours there.
Disliked: Not a dislike at all, but would recommend approaching from the North as the lane is a wee bit wider (via Harrowbarrow/Metherall) rather than Botherick... It's totally off-grid, so expect compost loos and no charging plugs (although there is pretty good phone reception, should you need it). There is a shower room though, with hot water, and space to get changed in private.

Talulah shepherd's hut
Liked: James welcomed us (2 adults, a toddler and a dog) with open arms and made us feel completely at home. He has made a beautiful campsite where you can stay with the luxury of comfortable beds and quiet rooms (we stayed in the shepherd hut) with hot showers amongst the beauty and calm of the Cornwall countryside. Three nights here felt like we’d been away for a week - we all unwound and relaxed in the calm environment. Our toddler loved exploring the forested paths and seeing the birds and various plants - we loved seeing this and then being able to enjoy an evening by the braai/firepit. We will definitely return and recommend this little haven and its’ wonderful host wholeheartedly!
Disliked: Nothing

Liked: The back to nature approach, and being able to live disconnected from the world for a few days, very refreshing and James was incredibly welcoming and helpful! My children thoroughly enjoyed the adventure, as did my dogs!! Highly recommended! Talulah is such a cute shepherds hut! Such a beautiful setting for a weekend away from the madness of everyday life! Thank you Copper Pot!

Lavender bell tent
Liked: The tents are lovely, spacious and comfortable and the communal areas are great for barbecuing or having a few drinks with the other campers. For kids the site is magical and fun. What really makes the place though is the host, James. He’s always around to help and chat. What he has done single handedly on sight is impressive and his knowledge of the area and wildlife is brilliant.
