Relax outside

General

  • Rural and peaceful glamping site in the middle of meadow and woodland
  • A 15-minute drive to Bewl Water and 20 minutes to Tunbridge Wells
  • Bell tents come with extras like beds, linen and cooking facilities

Life’s a Pitch, they sometimes say – but surely not when on a hol at this gorgeous glamping site in the Kent countryside... this lovely place has fully-furnished bell tents decorated in bright colours (all bunting, fairy lights and dreamcatchers...) as well as outdoor decking installed in a meadow and woodland setting.

Inside, each unit comes with double beds plus a couple of single airbeds (with all linen included) and a utility pack filled with basic bits and bobs for cooking. A table and seating – along with extra camping chairs for leaning back on with a cold one at the end of the day – are also provided.

If the urge to get up from the comfy spot you’ve carved out for yourself takes hold, loads of woodland trails can be wandered on straight from the site. And if you fancy going further, lots of trips to suit all tastes are easy to take from here as well.

Try Bewl Water for starters, to roam along 12.5 miles of paths, hire a bike, fly fish or row a boat (15 minutes from the site), then dawdle on dry land at the Scotney Castle manor house in the River Bewl valley (also 15 minutes away). Other outdoorsy options in the region include Groombridge Place Estates for its formal gardens and fairytale-themed adventure forest, half an hour from the park.

Please note

No cars/motorcycles at the site. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Wow , what a lovely surprise we had. The galloping test were amazing the site is a little off the beaten track but once there a wonder safe haven for children and adults . The staff went out of their way to look after us even providing ice for our G & T's.
They seem to have thought of everything .
Our only disappointment was that we didn't stay longer.

The place was lovely. The tipi they prepared for us was really tastefully decorated, spacious and had everything we needed (even a kettle!). Bob, who owns the land, was extremely helpful giving is local recommendations and even giving us a ride into town on the last day. Absolutely gorgeous setting and really helpful and friendly people. We will be back!

    Disliked:

The pitch has quite a few tents in it so there wasn't too much privacy. Unfortunately some of the other people staying were not respectful and kept blocking the toilets by throwing things in them, but that's obviously bad luck and no fault of the lovely team that runs the site! Only draw back otherwise was a lack of easily accessible power sources

Local attractions

A place that impressed Queen Victoria so much her son added ‘Royal’ to the start of its name, Tunbridge Wells is a top town about 20 minutes from the site. Get a glimpse of the Georgian collonaded buildings in The Pantiles while browsing the boutiques and you’ll soon see why regal types took such a liking to this place.

For architecture of a different sort swing by The Hop Farm (20 minutes’ drive) to check out the world’s biggest load of oast houses; set in a big country park with huge inflatable trampolines, laser tag and a 4D cinema, enough's here to keep the kids busy as well.

Alternatively, take leave from Tunbridge Wells in historical fashion on The Spa Valley Railway that runs from town to the High Rocks, acres of sandstone land linked up with 11 bridges for strolls with snazzy views 20 minutes from site.

Or how about heading towards the inspiration for the Hundred Acre Wood, Ashdown Forest (40 minutes’ drive), where Pooh Bear was invented? You can even wave hola to the llamas at a dedicated park along the way...
