General

  • Small rural glamping site 10 minutes' drive from Uckfield
  • A 15-minute drive from the South Downs and 40 minutes from Brighton
  • Hot tub, kingsize bed, woodburning stove and fresh eggs for breakfast

Hadlow Hideaways is a smart East Sussex glamping site in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty 10 minutes’ drive from Uckfield.

Accommodation is in a fully-furnished bell tent that’s been set up on a large deck with a woodfired hot tub and plenty of space for a barbecue. There’s also plenty of space inside the tent, which has a comfy kingsize bed, a woodburning stove, tea and coffee supplies for your morning cuppa and games to play on cosy evenings in. A private shower and compost toilet are provided too.

Resident on site all year round are a collection of small farm animals, including friendly pigs and a flock of chickens; you’re welcome to get in among them to forage for eggs for breakfast. For meals and drinks later in the day, there’s a fine country pub 25 minutes’ amble down the lane with great food and local ales.

For walks beyond the pub there are many trails in the surrounds of the High Weald, and more around 15 minutes’ drive away in the South Downs National Park. A half-hour drive will get you down to the south coast for seaside walks and beach days, and Brighton is around 40 minutes away.

Please note

No cars/motorcycles at the site. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Everything ! Natalie and Connor have thought of everything you could need for a few nights away. The attention to detail goes above and beyond from the welcome pack which included some divine rhubarb gin to the telescope provided to watch the stars. A true gem of a place . Hadlow Hideaways is in a fantastic location so peaceful and relaxing with no neighbours to interfere with your experience, the amenities were 5 star, Connor and Nat were amazing hosts, nothing was too much trouble, they even came and collected our girls (ages 5, 7 and 9) to feed the pigs and collect the eggs from the chickens, the breakfast basket is a must, the produce is such good quality. The hot tub was definitely the girls favourite, we feel we have found a little gem and a small piece of heaven and are coming back, I don't think this luxury camping experience could be beaten elsewhere and great value for money, thank you for what our party agreed was the best holiday EVER 😍

We had a wonderful time staying at Heron house. The tent was so well kitted out with everything you would need including lovely bedding, lamps, cutlery, glasses. The hot tub was a huge hit as well as the kids trip to feed the pigs and the books/games and toys in the toy box. My husband and I loved the well thought out welcome basket and the views from the tent were beautiful. Connor was so welcoming and was just a phonecall away if needed. We would definitely love to come back.

The beautiful decor and cleanliness of the tent. All of the thoughtful finishing touches from the children’s books to lovely dressing gowns really made us feel welcome and relaxed. The kids enjoyed charging around the field while we cooked the bbq and then had a dip in the hot tub.

A tent big enough for a family of 6!
The location of this tent was fabulous - the sole tent at the top of a field with an amazing outlook across the valley. Waking up to see deer in the field, a heron perched nearby, and kestrels, a plus for nature lovers.
Being on a decking platform meant a level bed and minimal muddy feet. The toilet/shower cubicle and kitchen being upon this decking too, neighbouring the tent was immensely convenient.
The hot tub was great fun (but do give a good few hours to heat up). Once warm it keeps its heat until the next day for a morning dip - a real luxury directly next to your tent.
Nat and Connor are so welcoming and helpful. Little touches like a welcome hamper with homemade goodies and treats make a huge difference. Also, games, toys and books for the kids means next time we visit we don't need to bring entertainment. Any extras needed were only an ask away.
Feeding the pigs and collecting eggs was another highlight for us all.
We totally loved our stay and plan to return to Heron House (the name of our tent).
