Inn at the Bush: Garden

General

  • Family- and biker-friendly site next to a pub serving food
  • On the edge of the Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
  • Hadrian's Wall within three miles; 10 minutes' drive from Wigton

Cumbria’s a cracker of a place for a hol, and the Inn at the Bush is a convenient site for a stopover when roving the region in your motorhome or campervan. Park up here next to the pub, bar and restaurant for fuss-free access to food, drink and the Solway Coast.

The park is on the eastern edge of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, under 10 minutes’ drive from Bowness-on-Solway and 25 minutes west of Carlisle. Twitching type? You’ll be chuffed to know it’s also set close to the Solway Firth and the Solway Wetlands’ birdwatching haven.

While the whole area may sound a little marshy, there are no worries about getting stuck in the mud while at this site: pitches are on ground that has never been flooded and a slight incline means water runs off the land so you can be confident of always being dry.

This park is a simple spot, but you’ll have access to the essentials on the grounds, including toilets, water taps and internet. It’s also family-, dog- and motorbiker-friendly, with four-legged creatures permitted in the pub if you’re planning on dining there.

Please note

This park has no on-site shower facilities.

No cars/motorcycles at the site. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Just what we wanted, somewhere quiet to stop overnight. Freshwater and toilet emptying were available but we needed neither. It looked as though a shower would be available; we didn’t need it but check whether it is working. The welcome we had in the pub was fantastic; they could not have been more friendly. The food in the pub was fine too.

    Disliked:

    It rained.

From the manager...

Many thanks for your kind words. A shower is available by the way, but we still have occasional rain no matter how much we try to stop it.

Ideal location to start our walk along Hadrian's Wall.
Spotless CDP and toilets. Shower not yet ready but we use our own anyway.
Outside space at pub has settees and log burner under cover for the british weather, plus a nice neat garden area.
Landlord and staff very welcoming and helpful.

A warm welcome by staff on arrival and given helpful information. This lovely pub has plenty of outside space to enjoy the sunshine and also covered areas if showery. Inside the pub is very friendly and has an excellent menu of home cooked food. Although no shower facilities or hook up, this still remains an excellent stopover if your unit has these. Have booked another night as we enjoyed our stay here. Highly recommend.

From the manager...

Thanks for your review and we are disappointed that we fell short on this occasion. We understand about the low score on location and facilities/activities but you should have been told about the toilets/shower for which I apologise. We do have a rule regarding greetings and induction which in your case we obviously got wrong.
However its early in the season for us so we shall refresh our vigor to ensure that we don't make similar mistakes.
If you let us know your booking details we shall refund your fees.

Colin and staff

Everything. Only downside is no shower, however was advertised as such. Shower is awaiting an electrician so once that's in, would have everything a camper, or campervan stop requires. Pub, restaurant, outdoor seating & television area, lovely surrounding area and the customer service was top notch; owner and staff went above and beyond. Highly recommend.
