General

  • Peaceful family-run smallholding near Kirkby Lonsdale
  • Halfway between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales
  • Two small lakes with regular visits from kingfishers and an osprey

Comfy caravans on a quiet park with lovely Lune Valley views – sound like somewhere you could land for a while? Dock the family (yes, doggy pals, you too) at Docker Holiday Park, 15 minutes from Kirkby Lonsdale, for easy access to coast and countryside escapades.

There’s heaps of fab stuff to do whichever way you turn from this friendly family-run park: it’s sandwiched between the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District national parks, and a piffling half-hour drive from the beach at Morecambe. Two-wheeled travels are a cinch, as the National Cycle Network Regional Route 90 (aka the Lancashire Cycleway) passes right by the place, and there’s plenty of scope for walks, watersports and wildlife watching nearby too.

In fact, you’ll not even need to stray from site to get going on the nature watches, as the site has its own pair of small lakes that are popular with passing birds including kingfishers and osprey. Kids getting twitchy for a little more activity? Pack them off to the playground for a while (or hook them up to the wifi if they’re screaming for screen time).

Stays here are as cosy as can be, as all the caravans have central heating and double glazing, along with a private terrace kitted out with outdoor furniture for warmer days. You’ll have your own well-equipped kitchen, and there’s a barbie available for alfresco cookouts; if you’d rather eat out there’s a good village pub less than a mile away and a selection of pubs and restaurants in Kirkby Lonsdale.

Very hospitable hosts, we were made to feel welcome from the minute we arrived. The accommodation was very comfortable with all amenities available, it was also to a very high standard. The site itself was really peaceful and relaxing. Thank you very much to both Will and Anastasia for your help and hospitality.

Very clean caravan had everything u could need. Towels bedding washing up liquid! Very quiet location the weather was fantastic couldn’t have wished for better. Very dog friendly - even when my two pugs insisted on running after Anastasia every day - lots of wildlife
Was a very relaxing place. We didn’t venture of site but that was personal choice and because the weather was so good we enjoyed sitting on the caravan balcony- both new owners very friendly and welcoming - were happy to help with anything.

    Disliked:

John the previous owner who I have to mention due to the rude way he answered the phone in reception. We didn’t know where to go on arrival for keys or which caravan we were staying in. In the reception there’s a number to call if no one around - it’s the old owners number - John was abrupt and unwelcoming - nearly set the tone for our break - fortunately Anastasia who now owns the site is lovely and very welcoming

Location was perfect for Three Peaks, Morcombe Bay, ingleton plus much more. KIRBY in Lonsdale only a few miles away and well worth a visit, lovely historic town. The static was immaculate with an added bonus of a washing machine, good central heating and gas fire, a quiet location but with great views an£ they also took dogs.
Good informative brochure with a local map which we borrowed and got to find all the ringed pubs. LoL

    Disliked:

Nothing about the place, only thing was there was not a sign to turn into the road to Boswick so we did get a bit lost in the beginning.

From the manager...

Thanks for a smashing review. So glad you had a good time and hope you enjoyed all the local pubs! Sorry to hear you got a bit lost getting here. There is brown tourist signs from all incoming roads including one in Borwick but they can be easy to miss when you don't know the roads. Hope to see you again for another stay.

We have just come home from a weekend stay in Wood view Static at Docker Farm. This caravan was immaculate, fluffy towels, comfy bedding, good size shower and even a washer.
The wifi was better and quicker than ours at home.
Each caravan has a decking area with seating and a picnic table to the side of the caravan.
Each caravan also has a parking bay next to it.
The site it is set in is lovely, a lake and three lovely Alpacas with a friendly goat as well as a huge turkey and a few ducks on the pond opposite.
There was a train track at the bottom of the field but the trains run only a couple of times during the day.
Such a peaceful site and just what we needed to get away and relax.

From the manager...

Glad you enjoyed the peace and quiet. That tends to come hand in hand with being out of a busy area! We are only 5 miles from Carnforth or Kirkby Lonsdale and a mile to the nearest pub but I can see that it might seem further. I'm sorry you only gave us 1 for customer service. We're not aware that you saw either us or staff so I do hope it wasn't a bad experience that led you to that Wi Fi really should be 100 out of 100 as we have the fastest broadband in the world here! Something everybody comments on how amazing it is. We are on the B4RN community broadband and it's amazing! I clean the caravans myself and take a great deal of pride in doing it well. I'd be grateful to know why you marked us down a notch .. then I can deal with it. Many thanks.

Local attractions

As well as being your local hub for shops and other amenities, Kirkby Lonsdale’s a good place for those who like to poke around in independent shops. It’s also the jumping-off point for a riverside walk to Ruskin’s View and the Devil’s Bridge before a refreshing pint from Kirkby Lonsdale Brewery.

For longer walks and bike rides, head into the Yorkshire Dales (20 minutes) or Lake District (half an hour), where hundreds of scenic miles await for all ages and levels of fitness. Fave spots to visit in the Dales include the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail (25 minutes), White Scar Cave (25 minutes) and the Ribblehead Viaduct (35 minutes). Or head towards Lake Windermere (45 minutes) for watersports and walks by England’s largest natural lake.

For the scent of sea air, make for Morecambe, half an hour away – there’s plenty to see along the prom (including kids’ games and art installations) and a super sandy beach. Should your exploratory paddle deem the water too chilly to swim, there’s a heated pool and sauna 10 minutes away at Capernwray Hall.
