General

  • Countryside site with its own bar and restaurant serving homemade food
  • A 20-minute drive from Chester, 45 from Liverpool and 55 from Rhyl
  • Beer garden, wifi at the pub and locally sourced meals available

Foodies might want to whisk themselves off to Carriages Touring and Camp Site for eats aplenty in Cheshire: this park has its own pub and restaurant serving homemade meals... and is five minutes' drive from The Ice Cream Farm for copious scoops of dessert.

If filling up on fare isn’t why you’re heading to the area (tsk), the site’s also well placed for Cheshire countryside adventures and activities, with the mile-long Crocky Trail’s slides, rope swings, climbs and chain bridge five minutes’ drive away. The Sandstone Trail is accessible within 15 minutes’ drive at either Tarpoley or Frodsham for wanders of a more challenging nature on a 34-mile long-distance hikers’ path, and it's 20 minutes' drive from Carriages to city days at Chester.

A stay at this site means there’s no need to limit yourself to exploring England either, as the wide, sandy beaches of north Wales around the seaside resort of Rhyl are within 50 minutes’ drive.

Electric showers, an Elsan point and water and toilet facilities are all on site for guests' use. And then (back) to the bar and restaurant to sample locally sourced food made freshly to order: take it out to the beer garden or sort your own alfresco eats at the handy barbecue area.

Please note

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Discount cards and gift vouchers cannot be applied to bookings made via Pitchup.com.

The shower facilities are closed. Guests will need to use their own facilities.

Group bookings of 2 or more units (e.g. tent, touring caravan, motorhome or accommodation hire) travelling together are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

Dogs are allowed in the pub.

Dogs are not allowed during Carfest North between 25/07 and 28/07.

Fantastic site, first time camping taster for my family and we have the bug. With this site being only 20 minuite drive from us we will most definitley be back but in a camper hopefully next time. The on site pub is a big bonus had a fantastic curry with a couple of pints to wash it down. Hope you enjoy the pictures, feel free to use the drone pictures as you wish.
    See you again soon.

The owners are very friendly and welcoming . The site is quite small so the toilets aren’t far to walk to.

    Disliked:

The road next to the site is a 60mph road that is quite busy at night so it was a little noisy in a tent.

This is a great site at affordable price with access to a restaurant and bar. Pitches large enough for twin axle caravan and paid extra for late checkout on our last day. Only a 15 minute drive into Chester city centre. Site showers were closed due to covid restrictions but could use the restaurant toilets if needed. Would stay here again. Owners very friendly and helpful

From the manager...

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. This is our first year with the Summer Wild pitches and we are really pleased that all of our guests are enjoying the way they are set out and the amount of space allocated to each pitch. Of course we always love to read that you liked our helpful approach and the pub food.
Although we don't advertise that we have washing up facilities on pitchup, we do offer, on the welcome sheet, to do the washing up for those in tents to make life a little easier for you, although few take us up on the offer.
We look forward to welcoming you again.

Local attractions

Craving the sweet stuff post-meal at the pub? The Ice Cream Farm is five minutes’ drive away – pick up a tub then sample it on the way to Chester Zoo (20 minutes’ drive from the site) to meet the monkeys, meerkats and mongoose in this 125-acre complex.

If you’d rather browse bargains than amble around with the animals, the 145 discount stores at Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet are 20 minutes away. Invest in some walking shoes in one of the mountaineering shops then set off for the sea: the beachside trails passing sand dunes and natural foreshore at North Wirral Coastal Park on the Wirral Peninsula are within 35 minutes’ drive.

You’ll also be a stone’s throw from Liverpool on the mighty River Mersey here (45 minutes from the park), to bounce around its Beatles-themed exhibitions and fill up on yet more fodder at award-winning restaurants in the city centre...
