General

  • Lively family-friendly park five minutes' walk from the beach
  • Pool, kids' splash pool and sports activities
  • Pub restaurant and takeaway

If you’re a delicate flower, there’s no need to wither in the sea when you fancy a swim - go for a toasty float in this park’s smart indoor pool instead.

Withernsea Sands Holiday Park is a lively site on the Yorkshire coast, with great facilities for families, including a kids' splash pool alongside the main pool, kids’ clubs, organised sports activities both in the pool and on dry land, and a pub restaurant and takeaway.

In peak season, there’s also an evening programme of rip-roaring entertainment and dancing (the vibe is quieter at other times).

The touring warden who came to show us to our pitch on his day off

    Disliked:

Poorly marked pitches, lighting at night was awful, no reception staff at the desk on arrival, some lady who admitted she didn’t know what she was doing attended to us. Toilet blocks need updating, now clothes pegs on the toilet or shower doors. Tents pitched randomly amongst the touring caravans

Not there long enough to give an opinion, clean bathroom.

    Disliked:

Not enough staff around in an evening, front desk took little to no interest or empathy. No lighting around roads for evenings. Ground was too soft to keep pegs in, needs to be more suitable. Uneven pitches.

The welcome you get from a lovely gentleman who escorts you to your pitch. Plenty of space between caravans, motorhomes and tents, good on site facilities, toilets and shower facilities or very clean and plentiful biggest bonus for us was it was close to a lovely beach where the dog's could run to their hearts content.

Very noisy with no one monitoring it. Kept awake in the night due to noisy residents.
Foul language by teens and younger children in the play area. Our children were unable to play there as a consequence of the above.

Local attractions

The beach at Withernsea is only a five-minute walk from the park, and has miles of clean golden sands.

Withernsea itself is a small and friendly resort with a lovely prom, open air theatre and a rare inland lighthouse, which now houses a museum. To the south of the town is Spurn Point, a nature reserve where visitors can spot seals, migrating birds and many unusual plants on the long, narrow spit of shingle.

There’s more to see and do around and about: a massive nuclear bunker to explore at RAF Holmpton, a 500-year old Napoleonic fort at Fort Paull, and thrills and spills aplenty at the nearby Pleasure Island Theme Park and The Deep Aquarium in Hull.

Shopaholics should also make time to hornpipe down to Hornsea, where they’ll dance with glee at the bargains to be had in the designer outlet village.

Must see

  • The Deep (14.3 miles)
  • Ferens Art Gallery (14.7 miles)
  • Far Ings National Nature Reserve (20.4 miles)

National Trust

  • Maister House (14.4 miles)
