- Small, dog-friendly, vintage-style glampsite in a woodland clearing
- Fully heated and insulated glamping pods with bone china and bed linen
- Firepit, toilet, hot showers and undercover area
Heated and insulated glamping pods in a handsome woodland clearing, bone china from which to sup your tea, a firepit, den building and three local pubs within easy ambling distance… what a perfectly peaceful place this is – and all well under an hour from London and 45 minutes from the sea.
Everything you need for a glamping hol is on hand for you at Hollington Park Glamping near Newbury in Berkshire, from the toasty pods kitted out with cutlery, crockery, pans and barbecue equipment (as well as tea, sugar and milk), to the covered cooking area just outside with gas stove and barbecue – and the brick-built firepit for blazing up evening toastiness to sit at under the stars. A clean composting toilet, hot showers and a covered outdoor seating area are also on site.
The Hollington pods are set in a woodland clearing, on a site covering ten acres of semi-ancient woodland on the Hampshire/Berkshire border, 45 minutes from London and five minutes from historic Highclere Castle (the main filming location for Downton Abbey, gogglebox fans). Newbury is five miles away.
But there's heaps to see and do on the doorstep here first… scenic walks, three local pubs and full access to the ten-acre woodland for wood foraging, den building and wildlife spotting are all around: look out for deer, badgers and resident pheasant Bubble, often seen strutting around the site with his birds.
Then amble back to base, fire up dinner and drift off in the crisply made-up beds to the sound of hooting owls… you very much may not want to amble off home.

Less than three miles from Hollington Park Glamping is Highclere Castle, the main filming location used for forelock-tugging ITV drama Downton Abbey. The castle and its gardens are open to the public during July and August and at other times during the rest of the year.
Goggleboxers and celluloid fans should also enjoy a look at Watership Down (yes, where the famed film about Fiver and his rabbity crew was based), visible from nearby Beacon Hill and ten minutes away by car. To see real critters, three farm parks are nearby at Finkley Down Farm, Four Kingdoms and Bucklebury Farm Park (you might spot Princess Kate and her crew at this last).
Beacon Hill, where Lord Carnarvon, finder of King Tut's tomb is buried (supposedly upside down to get rid of the curse) is five minutes' drive away. It's close to the historic site of Combe Gibbet, which was once where two unfortunate executed bodies were exhibited, and these days is a spot where you can get far-reaching views into Newbury and Hampshire.
For towns, the shops, pubs, restaurants, bowling alley and soft play centre of Newbury are five miles or 15 minutes' drive away; seven miles away is the old market town of Hungerford, with cafés, pubs, antique shops and a monthly village market half a mile outside town, selling local produce, art and crafts.
