Our stay at Charlie Bassetts was a lovely experience. Upon arrival the staff were very friendly and informative. We were given an information sheet that was so helpful for codes and stay timings. As we stayed at the beginning of March there were many pitches available and were very kindly given a choice of pitch. Which as a couple new to touring was very helpful as we were able to find a pitch that was easy for us to reverse into. We had our dog with us too and the walks around the campsite were brilliant. The layout of the campsite was so easy to navigate and as mentioned we were shown where all facilities were at the beginning of our stay. The shower and toilet block were very clean and well presented. The pub itself was a beautiful building and had so much character and charm. The environment and staff were all so welcoming and accommodating. The food was incredible, we have even agreed that this is somewhere we would come for a date night. Both the campsite stay and the food were also very well priced. The outside bar area looked amazing however due the the time of year we were unable to experience this, although we will definitely be returning in the summer.

The only dislike that we could think of would be the muddied area around the electric and water point. Although we do appreciate this would be due to the time of year of of visit and the rainfall that we had. We thought it may be an idea to possibly add a couple of concrete slabs just so that you don't have to stand in the mud to fill your aquaroll. Other than this the site was fantastic.

everyone was very friendly and helpful and the site is in a lovely spot; I had some food in the pub the only slight disappointment was a lack of more than one veggie option on the menu for a main course, but other than that it was a great stay.

We liked being sent a message the day before with barrier code and important information. Loved the fully serviced pitches with table and benches on the side. Pub was lovely, good service and friendly staff. Plenty of footpaths to go on country walks. There was another pub 8 mins walk and also a 25 min walk to the next village of Forsbrook with Spa and Tesco Express as well as a couple more pubs. Shower on site was very good and free to use. Toilet was kept clean and tidy. If staying with kids there was a playground area and goats and geese in an adjoining area.

Quintessential english countryside public house that welcomes Dogs. There is an array of beers, spirits, wine as well as soft drinks on offer. The coffee was exceptionally tasty too. Also serves food, which includes an exceptional vegetarian/vegan menu, all of a very high standard but at realistic prices. I will add that the meal I had was absolutely delicious!! Butternut & bean pie served with mash & roast potatoes, caramelized honey parsnips, cauliflower cheese plus a small pot of yummy gravy. My only complaint was that I didn't have the stamina for a dessert!!
The pub is both welcoming & comfortable with a stove roaring away during the colder months. The bar staff, that I encountered, were extremely welcoming as well as helpful.
Then there's a wonderful little campsite within the grounds of the pub with both hard as well as grass pitches, all with EHU. The hard standing pitches are gravel & they are all generously sized within a peaceful setting with countryside views. All the facilities were spotless & the shower room was heated.
There is also a small farm holding area within the grounds, offering a home to a small quantity of sheep, goats, pigs & geese which I'm sure anybody including children would enjoy to see.
During the summer months there is a barbeque area with outside seating. Plus a children's play area. For us Dog lovers, there is plenty of space to exercise our four legged friends along with countryside walking/hiking routes to enjoy.
Overall this site was marvellous & I intend to visit again, but within the warmer months of the year. However, take heed, as I imagine that this site gets booked up really quickly, so book a pitch well in advance from spring onward!!!

Our third time in staying here, clean toilets, friendly staff, electric hook up and water on your pitch which is also mostly level so didn't need chucks.pub on site and in the summer they do outside pizza oven. Dog friendly, great for families. Playground and some farm animals.The owner came and checked if we were ok and had a chat after our first night. Quiet at night even though its a busy place. We stayed 2 nights.

You can't book a table for food anymore and it is a very popular place for the locals so can get very busy.
We went for an early evening meal but at 5pm thinking it would be ok and unfortunately no steaks available or pie as they had sold out ( not had this problem before on our last stays )

Great site. Nice big pitches and great views. Had a great time in the pub Saturday night. Lovely food and live band. Staff were so very nice. Particular mention to young lad behind the bar who had impeccable maners. Met the owner who was very pleasant and gave us loads of information about the local area including some great walks. Will definitely be returning.
