- Peaceful rural site with good access from the 248C main road
- Less than half an hour's drive from the city of Iaşi
- Communal kitchen, barbecue area, playground and kit rental
Roaming around Romania’s north-eastern parts is a cinch from Camping Turistic A și A – this peaceful rural site is just off the 248C (the main road from Iaşi to Vaslui), a few minutes’ drive from the village of Mogoseşti.
This puts the place in a prime position for country walks, outings to handsome Hadâmbu Monastery and days of putting your motorbike or four wheel drive through its paces at the nearby off-road driving area (ask on site for help with booking such things). It’s also well placed for city wanders in Iaşi, 25 minutes’ drive away (handy for those with an eye for Orthodox churches – there are around 100 excellent specimens in the city, so you may need to take a few visits to get round the whole lot).
It’s also the kind of site that lends itself well to outdoor meals – pitches have plenty of space to spread out, and some fine views to admire while you eat. A communal kitchen, barbecue area and washing-up area are all in place to help with the prep, and there’s a play area to keep kids entertained if you want to take your time.
Other essentials are sorted here, as well: the bathroom block has toilets and showers, and all pitches have access to supplies of water and electricity. Forgetful types and those who experience some form of malfunction will be chuffed to hear there’s a stash of camping kit available for rent (tents, sleeping bags, mattresses and the like) to keep you on track for a comfy night.

Local attractions
Believer or not, you have to admit that the world’s major religions have spawned some mighty fine buildings… and a good many of those are in this part of Romania. A good road leads from the site to the restored 17th-century Hadâmbu Monastery (15 minutes’ drive), and it’s also worth making the longer journey (around an hour and a half) to see the painted church and peaceful flower-filled gardens of Mălineşti monastery.
A highlight on this front has to be a trip (or trips) to the city of Iaşi (25 minutes), one of the few cities in the world to claim almost 100 Orthodox churches. Most are gathered in the so-called Golden Plateau area, which is also home to the National Theatre, the neoclassical City Hall and several museums in the flamboyant Palace of Culture.
If your enthusiasm for history wears off before you’ve ticked off all 100, divert outside of the city to the botanic gardens, or for a lake swim at Tiki Village beach (both half an hour from the site if you’re making a special outing).
