If your idea of paradise is gorgeous views and rural activities… but your practical side demands easy access to urban amenities, the excellent setting of central Portugal’s Campsite Ohai Nazaré Outdoor Resort should meet the approval of both sides of your soul.
This winning location is in a rural spot just outside the resort of Nazaré, a 20-minute saunter from its shops, bars and restaurants. Those up for venturing a little further can get to Leiria’s city centre with a 20-minute drive, while folk whose holiday aims include the bare minimum of travels can stay put for easy eats and drinks at the restaurant and bar.
Serenity-seekers should find plenty of space to relax under the trees at this wooded park, while active sorts can take the short drive to Nazaré’s famed surf and swimming beaches or venture out into the surrounding nature reserve (one of the largest on the whole Iberian peninsula, no less) for walks, bike rides, horse riding, canoe paddles and the like.
You don’t have to head out to get active though: you could equally elect to stick around at this family-friendly site to spend time at the swimming pool, work out at the gym or play games of pétanque and padel tennis. A massage room is also on site and there’s a playground to pack the kids off to while you get pampered.

Local attractions
Open-air activities will no doubt demand to be on your schedule here: there are around 12,000 hectares of nature reserve around the site, after all. Ask the site team on site for tipoffs about the best local walks and bike rides, or take a 10-minute drive to the nearest stables to saddle up. Drive west for a few minutes for big surf at Praia do Norte or to hire sea kayaks and jetskis in Nazaré.
For urban wanderings, head off to Óbidos to walk round the city walls and visit the castle or take in the UNESCO-listed gothic monastery in Batalha; both are around half an hour away by car. Alcobaça (15 minutes) also has a splendid monastery, with the added bonus of a wine museum.
The life-sized dinosaurs along the safari trails at DinoParque (45 minutes) make it a popular pick for kids; recover your zen afterwards with a leisurely stroll around Buddha Eden (35 minutes), a serene Asian peace garden filled with sculptures.
Back in Nazaré, it’s a fine idea to cool off by splashing down the waterslides at Norpark waterpark before heading to the beach to watch the sunset while having the local snack of bolas de berlim (a mildly addictive custard-filled doughnut).

Sorry, if your stay wasn´t as you expected.
We are improving these days the camping WIFI (not only on the Glamping tends, Bungalows and Apartments by individual antenas, but also to the rest of the camping) and we will have finish this week!
I would suggest to come back next year to see all the improvements and novelties we will have in the campsite!
