The splendid lengthy sands – and popular surfing/bodyboarding spot – of Cova Gala are within walking distance of the park at 400 metres away, and the site is in the centre of Lavos forest and close to Serra Gorda mountain for outdoor options on days you're not at the beach. And it's all a few kilometres north of Figueira da Foz and another splendid beach in its 2km stretch.

Parque Orbitur Gala is properly equipped with plenty of facilities and amenities, such as an outdoor pool, tennis courts, a sports court, table tennis, playground and even a car wash; food is sorted at the supermarket and the restaurant and bar with terrace.

Parque Orbitur Gala also has coin-operated washing machines, a service point and three shower and loo blocks.

Liked:	Lovely site a stone’s throw from an amazing beach. Great facilities including spotlessly clean toilets and showers. We were almost the only people there over Christmas and the weather cooperated with cloudless skies and beautiful sunsets. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The enclosed site made us feel very safe. We would definitely stay again.
Disliked:	Although the car was facility was an excellent idea, the tokens (I bought 2) give a minute of wash! I had just enough time to wash the windscreen!

Liked:	Plenty to do for the kids, good motorhone facilities, secure site gates locked at 11pm.. staff could speak english and were very welcoming..

Good clearly laid out pitches for motorhomes which were level.
Shower and toilet facilities were good, nice and clean, plenty of hot water, toilet paper in each cubicle. Washing machine and tumble dryer in one block.
Good access to the beach.
Minimarket on site but was a bit limited probably as it was out of season. Could order bread at reception.
We only stopped off on our way to Lisbon, if we’d realised how nice it was would have stayed a bit longer. Great for a bit of a break.
Staff friendly and spoke good English.

Disliked:

Trying to find something ... bus stop into town was a km up the road

Local attractions

After a day on the Cova Gala sands/sea, find Figueira da Foz for a day on its beach followed by dinner at one of the many restaurants or pavement cafés among its old streets (the casino in town is pretty popular too). The Sierra da Boa Viagem mountain range is three kilometres north of the town for nature spotters and hikers.

The ancient city of Coimbra is about 55km from Parque Orbitur Gala, dating back to Roman times and awarded UNESCO World Heritage status in 2013 for its rather magnif old buildings. Spend at least a couple of days here if that's what you're into: highly recommended sights to see are the university baroque library, its rising Upper Town and its twelfth century Sé Velha cathedral.

Coimbra's Museu Nacional de Machado de Castro/National Museum Machado de Castro is built on the old Roman forum; more Roman history is at Conímbriga, one of the biggest Roman excavations ever unearthed in Portugal and still the best preserved.
