General

  • Modern facilities at the border of England and Wales
  • Easy access to the so-called town of books, Hay-on-Wye
  • Panoramic views and countryside walks

Welcome to Borders Hideaway Holiday Home Park where every touring pitch has a fresh water supply and Freeview TV connection. Add to this free wifi, terraced pitches, a children's play area, beautiful views and plenty of peace, and we've got it all for you to enjoy.

Our washroom facilities are the envy of most caravan parks. The shower rooms are private cubicles with a wash basin, WC and central heating throughout. All are fully equipped with soap dispensers, hand dryers and hairdryers. Pot and crockery wash up is available with lashings of hot water. There is also a superb laundry with a coin-operated washer, dryer, deep sink, iron and a drying room for all your walking wear and boots. All facilities are immaculately maintained.

Borders Hideaway is tucked away on the border of England and Wales. It is situated in a valley above the sleepy village of Clyro, on the Welsh side of the River Wye, opposite the town of Hay-on-Wye. Hay is renowned globally as 'the town of books' due to its vast array of second-hand book shops, however it also has a wide variety of galleries, antique, gift shops, taverns, and tearooms, offering an extensive choice for the discerning visitor.

Borders Hideaway provides peace and relaxation with panoramic views over fertile green and pleasant countryside; being only a small but well-spaced park, a stay here promises real solitude.

Everything! Had a lovely welcome with a welcome pack to take away with us. Our pitch was huge with plenty of space between the other lady that was staying.
The toilets were immaculate, showers were hot and clean, free hairdryer and phone charging point.
We used the washing facilities which were also great and didn't cost the earth.

The whole site is an animal haven, we saw birds, rabbits, bees, hares and even heard an owl each night.

The lack of light pollution meant we saw the most beautiful stars each night.

We felt welcomed and trusted as soon as we arrived.
Everyone was friendly and appreciated the facilities.

Oh and there is a lovely orchard full of fruit that residents are able to enjoy.

I can't recommend this park enough
..we can't wait to go back either!

Gold standard site and facilities. Weather was damp but quality of site helped us keep our wet Golden Retriever clean and satisfied. I would have been happy to stay in the field and admire the view but the river and Hay on Wye are too near to ignore. Food in Baskerville arms was excellent too. Will definitely be coming back for longer when we can.

This site is outstanding, the shower/ toilet block was cleaner than some hotels we have stayed in . Also a room with washing machine /tumble dryer. The pitches as we did the wild camping were very big you could easily get two tents on one pitch and there was plenty of space between pitches aswell. The location is fantastic up in the hills so lovely views and in just the right place for exploring. The owners were very friendly and helpful . It only cost us £20 for two nights . They had free WiFi aswell and a charging place for phones.Would definitely recommend !

A perfect few days! What a beautiful place in a spectacular location! The shower block with toilets and washing up facilities was immaculate and cosy at the same time and also conveniently located. The playpark was also just right! The orchards are a must and such fun for little ones ... the apples were yummy! We will certainly be back as it’s the best campsite we’ve been to!!

Really clean facilities, eco friendly site with fantastic views to pop your head out to in the morning and the staff were really lovely and welcoming. Would highly recommend.

    Disliked:

Pitches in the wild field are on a slight slant so we woke up at the bottom of the tent but not a massive issue at all.

From the manager...

We are pleased that despite waking up at the bottom of your tent you would still highly recommend our park and visit us again - yes unfortunately the pitches in the wild camping field are not perfectly level. We appreciate your comments about our facilities, eco friendly park, views, and that you found us all to be lovely and welcoming - we would happily welcome you back again, soon we hope :-)

We stayed on the 'wild camping' pitches. Two adults, two kids and two dogs for £20 a night, in high season, unheard of.
They're not completely level on this bit, but certainly workable. In my opinion this is the best bit of the site with a wonderful view of the valley. No electric and a short walk for water, no hardship. We had this bit of field to ourselves at one point.
The toilet block is super clean, always. I think it's cleaned 4 times a day, you won't find it dirty. Commendations to the cleaning team.
Wifi for nothing which is a nice touch, streaming video will be an issue but surfing and emails not a problem.

    Disliked:

    This is minor.
Shower heads are fixed into position, if you're 6' or above it might feel like you're ducking.
You also can't adjust the temperature of them. On the unusually hot summer we've had, it would be nice for a cool shower.
Minor. Most of the time you'd want it hot, which it is.

From the manager...

Thank you for your lovely review, we always appreciate it when our visitors take the time to review our park and we are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. With regards the showers, i'm sure anyone reading your comments will find them useful, unfortunately it's difficult to have the water at a temperature that suits all of our visitors but we're pleased that, that won't stop you from visiting us again :-)
