  • Modern adults-only caravan park on a 100-acre Isle of Anglesey farm
  • A mile from Llanfachraeth; 15 minutes' drive from Holyhead
  • Laundry room, electric vehicle charging and dog-walking area
Whether you're looking to tour the high hills of North Wales or want a simple island escape on Anglesey, look to Dronwy Caravan Park for a relaxed place to pitch up in a scenic rural setting. This 100-acre farm has a modern and stylish selection of pitches for tourers on the island's west coast, a mile from the small village of Llanfachraeth and a quarter of an hour's drive from Holyhead. This place is reassuringly civilised for somewhere so secluded – all pitches have access to handy features like a laundry room, a dog-walking area and chemical disposal points. Guests looking to minimise their impact on the environment can also charge electric vehicles at Dronwy Caravan Park before heading off for emission-free tours of Anglesey, Snowdonia and beyond. Down in Llanfachraeth there's a convenience store for last-minute provisions and a pub, while over in the larger village of Valley (five minutes' drive) there's a railway station, small supermarket and takeaways. Carrying on your adventures on the other side of the Irish Sea? Dronwy Caravan Park is in a convenient location for hopping on the ferry at Holyhead (15 minutes).

Local attractions

Holidaying in Wales’ northernmost reaches opens up lots of options for days out. Sticking to the island, you might like to set out along the Anglesey Coast Path (a few minutes from base) for spectacular seaside strolls, go for golfing by the beach at Trearddur Bay (15 minutes' drive) or head down to Beaumaris (35 minutes) for boat safaris out to Puffin Island. Elsewhere on Anglesey, explore the weird martian landscapes of Parys Mountain (30 minutes) where streaks of copper turn the land red, unearth the ancient past at the Roman walls of St Cybi's Church in Holyhead (15 minutes) and Barclodiad y Gawres burial chamber (15 minutes) or admire industrial relics like Llynon Windmill (10 minutes). Driving over to the mainland, head south to Dolbadarn Castle (40 minutes) for walks on the edge of Snowdonia National Park, or continue into the wilds to scale Snowdon itself (an hour and 10 minutes). For further impressive fortifications, look to west coast spots like Caernarfon (35 minutes), or drive north on to Penrhyn (30 minutes) and Conwy (45 minutes).

Fully-serviced concrete slab caravan site

Liked: We chose this site based on the reviews I have read. My husband and I wanted a nice quiet break and to test our new caravan. Lovely pitches plenty of room for caravan, awning and the car. All fully serviced and the toilets/showers were spotless really couldn't fault the facilities at all.shame it was another guest that had to let us in!!!

Disliked: I received no email about the code to raise the barrier to get in. I rang all the phone numbers to hear 3 voicemails straight away and constant ringing, luckily there was another guest walking his dog that said he'd had the same issue getting in but did give us the code to open the barrier. Another guest had helped him out and told him to park where ever he chooses. We were great full for his help drove in and got sorted. Spent 2 days trying to contact someone for the wifi password... No one ever answers the phone. Day 3 we saw the ground man that told us the owners had gone away ( which is fine and understandable) but who did they leave in charge of the whole site??? No-one that I was aware of no where to call for codes or passwords and no emails with these codes in. If the other guest hadn't of let us in we would have had no way of entering the site and no where to pitch up!!!! I felt really let down they happily took our money and then abandoned us on our little break

The facilities building is modern and clean. We loved the dog walks, off lead too! Location is great for visiting beautiful Anglesey. Fully-serviced concrete slab caravan site

Liked: From the minute we arrived (first time I'd taken the caravan out in 4 1/2 years - a 4 hour drive) the wonderful people at Dronwy could not have been more helpful. We were given an excellent pitch and helped to position the van even though it was 8pm on a Friday evening! The facilities are outstanding, the best we have ever seen, the entire site was spotlessly clean and immaculately presented. Nothing was too much trouble and the team there was so friendly, offering advice on where to go and how to get there. The pitches were perfect, dead level and fully serviced. Lovely warm showers, unbelievable washrooms!

Disliked: Having to come home!
