Abbey Farm Caravan and Camping Park: Spacious pitches

General

  • Small, peaceful site on a working farm a short walk into Rhuddlan
  • A 10-minute drive to beaches; 40 minutes to Snowdonia National Park
  • Dog-friendly site surrounded by stunning views and grazing animals

Birds singing, lambs baaing, cows mooing… it’s all about the wake-up calls at Abbey Farm Caravan and Camping Park, and it’s likely that even reluctant early risers will be keen to get up and about once those rural sounds start up.

This park is peaceful and quiet, perfect for families or couples who want to spend time together. A family-run farm in the Denbighshire countryside, where you’ll get a warm welcome from Rob and Celia, plus their children Lewis and Owen… and not forgetting the friendly sheepdogs Buster and Jess. Take a stroll around and you’ll often spot free-range chickens wandering around the place too – they’re the ones that provide freshly laid eggs for sale each day.

Pitches are spacious, and perfect for motorhomes, campers and tourers. The site is surrounded by cows and sheep grazing and with lovely views of the Clwydian Hills. The site has a bit of history behind it too, as the farm’s location was once a Dominican friary – you can still see remnants of that past in the abbey’ buildings (not often you get to stay at a field that’s part of a Scheduled Ancient Monument, eh?)

It’s the kind of place where families and couples can kick back and relax with simple facilities on hand, including three bathroom blocks (for toilets and showers) plus a utility area for washing-up, complete with a communal fridge and freezer. Getting out to handy amenities is straightforward too: it’s a short walk of 10 minutes or so to get to the village of Rhuddlan for cafés, pubs and shops (plus a castle – this is Wales, after all…)

At the top of the field, you will find three beautiful hand grafted glamping pods for those who want to camp with a hint of luxury; awarded Gold by Visit Wales they are truly a luxury stay with en-suite shower/toilet, egyptian cotton bedding, underfloor heating and kitchenette equipped with all you need for a perfect self catering stay.

Days out should be easy enough too, as there are main roads nearby, but you’ll face a choice: up to the coast for a beach day (10 minutes’ drive), or over to Snowdonia for hikes and other outdoor activities (40 minutes’ drive)?

Fabulous site with plenty of spotless modern facilities and amazing showers. Site was quiet and clean, with large pitches and beautiful views. Sited in lovely village with castle just an easy 5- 10min stroll from the campsite (well worth a visit).
We had a really nice welcome from the owner, who clearly cares that everyone has a great stay. Will certainly stay here again.

Lovely site and owners stayed in the top field great views. Nice modern toilets and showers, good location lots of things in walking distance Castle, pub, and shops. Fresh eggs available as well.

    Disliked:

Not a dislike but toilets could do with loo brush and locks on doors so you know if someone is in them. Maybe a house pipe by chemical point to swill out after emptying.

From the manager...

Thanks for the review and your feedback is valid so we’ll be getting those sorted😁
