Hidden away in peaceful countryside near Chichester in West Sussex, it’s hard to believe that Silver Airstream Rental is only a 90-minute drive from London. Here you can relax in your funky new home – a deluxe Airstream caravan. Oozing retro 1950s charm, these gleaming reconditioned American classic vehicles have all the mod cons to kickstart your holiday in some considerable style.
Each Airstream is individually styled and decked out with its own retro kitchen, living area, vintage bathroom, plush bed and quality linen. Towels, crockery and cutlery come as part of the deal too, and extra touches include a sound system and USB connectors.
Outside, each pitch has a private firepit to relax by while you take in the peaceful surroundings. And just to add to the relaxed vibe, there are picnic tables and hammocks too. An on-site hot tub is also available (this option needs to be booked in advance). Round and about the site there’s a treehouse kitchen, a cosily appointed communal yurt for extra living space and wooden seating around the bandstand.
From your dreamy little base, you can access woodland walks direct from the site. And with historic Chichester just 10 minutes' drive away you can always order a takeaway to be delivered if you can’t be bothered to stoke up the barbecue.
Please note that the hot tub, firepit and toilet and shower block are only open between the start of April and the end of October. Off-season, there is access to the picnic benches, compost toilet and water tap only.

Pull on the walking shoes and stride out into the spectacular South Downs National Park (10 minutes’ drive) for hikes leading past Iron Age forts and ancient barrows. Feel the urge for sand between your toes? Lucky for you then that West Wittering beach (25 minutes) is ready and waiting for kitesurfing and snorkelling adventures as well as sunbathing on warmer days.
You can go historic house-bagging too – step back in time to see how rich Romans lived at the ruins of sprawling Fishbourne Roman Palace (10 minutes), tour the Norman keep and gatehouse at impressive Arundel Castle (30 minutes), or check out priceless art collections at grand Goodwood House (15 minutes) – also host of the Goodwood Festival of Speed in late June or July.
The cultural hotspot of Chichester (10 minutes) offers up romantic restaurants for date nights, a fine Gothic cathedral to explore, and shopping aplenty in indie boutiques. And of course the famous Festival Theatre has a cracking program of contemporary drama as well as the annual festival in summer.
