Constance Farm Camping: Semi-wild stays

General

  • Quiet, simple farm site with uninterrupted country views
  • A 15-minute drive to Tunbridge Wells or to Hever Castle and Gardens
  • Home to sheep and pedigree Sussex cattle; a mile to the Forest Way

Constance Farm Camping (formerly known as Perryhill Farm Camping) s a small-scale site located in a fine stretch of peaceful High Weald countryside. This working beef and sheep farm has a small herd of pedigree Sussex cattle, which graze in these lush fields under the watchful eye of Archie the bull.

There's a separate field here where folks seeking outdoor stays can bed down, laze around and watch the cows and sheep munching grass in nearby fields. Constance Farm Camping has humble but helpful facilities, including portaloos and ice pack freezing, but other than that you'll be pretty much left to your own devices when it comes to how you manage your holiday.

You may well want to include treks along the car-free Forest Way on your itinerary – this old railway line is a green corridor that creates breathing space for walkers, cyclists and local wildlife; there are plenty of seats and picnic benches dotted along the route if you fancy stopping for lunch. You can join it on the edge of the village of Withyam (20 minutes' walk from site).

On your way back to base, you can stop off at a nearby tea room (a mile from site) if you're in need of a little boost on the home stretch, or head to the well-stocked farm shop next door to stock up on provisions for barbecuing back at the farm.

Please note

No cars/motorcycles at the site. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Group bookings of 3 or more units (e.g. tent, touring caravan, motorhome or accommodation hire) travelling together are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

This is a quiet park: no music is allowed.

The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

Single-sex bookings of 2 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

If making a fire, the fuel, logs and coal have to be purchased on site.

We had the most amazing welcome and assistance during our stay, we enjoyed every bit of our weekend from the pitch, location, setting and services provided: very cleaned toilets, good size sink to wash things, drinkable water and electricity to charge our devices. Forest way is only a 30 min walk and it is a lovely area by the river that also reaches the castles if you fancy a long walk.

Perryhill Farm Camping was a fantastic site. We went with another couple for a weekend break and had a lovely relaxed time. The owner, Matthew and his wife are really friendly and accommodating and made us welcome from the moment we arrived. We had their contact number for any queries or concerns. The camping field is situated right next to the cows and sheep, as is on a working farm, so we had a great time watching them with a drink in hand! The field is huge, and they don't take excessive bookings, so there was plenty of room and distance between campers which allowed us to have a giggle without disturbing everyone else. There is a car park next to the field so you do have to carry your belongings to your pitch, but there are wheelbarrows available for use (we had A LOT of stuff but didn't find it too far compared to other sites where you park away from the pitches). There were portable toilets on site, which were the cleanest we have ever seen! Cold water sink and a drinking water tap also available. We will definitely be back as there are lots of things to do in the area. Perryhill Farm camping also have glamping options, which we would love to try out! Thanks again for a great stay.

This is such a lovely campsite. The owner greeted us on the way in and (socially distanced) showed us around the facilities. It's super basic, but exactly as described and super clean and well looked after. We rented a fire pit and some wood for the evening. The firewood comes in a plastic box with kindling and a fire lighter so you have everything you need to make a great campfire. The host was incredibly friendly and very helpful. Can't recommend this site enough.
