  • Quiet pop-up site 20 minutes’ drive to Scafell Pike and Seascale beach
  • A five-minute drive to Wastwater; 10 minutes from Gosforth shops
  • Sunset views, fab walking and climbing, with real ale pubs close by
Wasdale Valley View site is a rustic bolthole in Cumbria's remote Wasdale. This quiet and peaceful site is run by a mother-and-daughter team, and its simple facilities (portable toilets and running water sourced from a tank) are offset by spectacular sunsets and amazing views towards Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain. And it’s not only close to England’s highest peak, but also its deepest lake. With Wastwater five minutes’ drive away, and several quiet beaches (many dog-friendly so the pet pooch can come too) to discover in less than 20 minutes, this is a fabulous spot for wild camping mini-breaks. To preserve the peaceful ambience, the site does not accept groups and strictly enforces its 10pm to 7am quiet time rule. Located on the outskirts of Nether Wasdale village, there are traditional real-ale pubs within a few minutes' walk, plus a brewery and cosy tea rooms round about, but if you’d like to eat on site (barbecues are allowed but you'll need to bring your own) it’s best to pick up supplies in Seascale, Gosforth or Holmrook stores on your way. As well as walking and climbing in Wasdale, brave souls have access to supervised ghyll scrambling and rock climbing at one of the local adventure activity providers; on family trips out, there are kids’ playparks in Seascale and St Bees.
