General

  • Exclusive-use site surrounded by the Oxfordshire countryside
  • A 25-minute drive from the Chiltern Hills; half an hour from Oxford
  • Single bell tent in a six-acre meadow; gastropub and food shop nearby

Fly solo, bring along a loved one or gather the whole tribe for a peaceful stay on the 500-acre Jointers Farm, where a day well-spent might involve unwinding in the meadow or exploring the surrounding countryside routes.

This wildlife haven is home to a single bell tent in its own six-acre meadow with a sunbathing area for when it's fine, a covered pub bench for less clement days, and splendid views of the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty whatever the weather. Inside the tent are a double bed and three camp beds (suitable for children and adults up to 100kg – please bring sleeping bags and pillows if you'll be using these); you're welcome to pitch another tent alongside too.

You're welcome to walk or cycle your way around the farm’s flat gravel roads; when you feel like venturing further out, there are plenty of walking and cycling routes in the surrounding countryside, including small cycle circuits for children and a family-friendly route up Windmill Hill (10 minutes’ drive).

Back at the site, there’s a portaloo, a field showers and drinking water sink that will help you refresh.

When you're ready to fill up on food, there are several pubs within 10 minutes’ drive, including a gastropub serving tasty French cuisine. Snacks on your mind too? Conveniently, there’s a small food shop 10 minutes’ drive away or a larger supermarket 15 minutes’ drive away if you’re planning on pulling the stops out for a barbecue or campfire back on site. Cutlery is provided for any meals you're making, but you'll need to bring plates, barbecue coals and any other bits and bobs you might need.

The bell tent was in a lovely location, inside you had everything you could want and the whole place was filled with extra little touches that just made the whole experience perfect!! Took my girl friend along for her birthday and she couldn’t have been happier!! The gazebo with benches, bbq and chimera was another lovely touch and made chilling out of an evening a joy, even had citronella candles to help keep the bugs away which was amazing!!

Wow, We booked this for our Anniversary. This went above and beyond our expectations. The whole meadow to ourselves, We got to see a beautiful white barn owl flying around the meadow. This had everything you can think of. All the little touches made it extra special. VERY Clean, the toilet and outdoor shower were fab. We were a little worried about the weather as rain was forecast, thankfully there was a gazebo. The bed was very comfy. The mini fridge was great. Tea, coffee, sugar, milk & biscuits were provided. We brought our own food & coal to cook on the bbq. We had a blast.
The following morning we went on a helicopter ride and were so lucky to fly over here. With all the pics we got, we also got a birds eye view pic too! Highly recommend this beautiful glamping tent in a field of natural beauty. 5*

Everything you could need was provided. The tipi was was fantastic, spacious, clean, well lit. The bed was comfy. It was a real treat to have the entire field to ourselves. Would definitely recommend.

    Disliked:

The only possible downside was the lack of shower facilities. But we could have paid extra to use the shower in the house.

From the manager...

There is now a ‘field shower’ for freshening up.

Exactly what we were looking for, a peaceful remote location to relax and unwind. The host Stuart was very accommodating and when we needed him he was there but left us to enjoy the experience for ourselves.

The glamping tent itself was very nice and has everything you need, great for couples with kids. Fire and BBQ on site which was great a very comfortable stay would highly recommend.

The pub (the plough) is very nice with amazing food (40 min walk away).

You really feel deep in the countryside we all loved it!

Local attractions

If walking is your passion, there are lots of ripe walking grounds within driving distance of the site. In the Chiltern Hills, the Aston Rowant National Nature Reserve (20 minutes’ drive) has a two-kilometre trail marked out by sculptures and all sorts of species of animals including red kites, grizzled skippers and green woodpeckers hiding out in the reserve's woodlands.

A little further north in the Chiltern Hills, take to the treetops on the Go Ape course in Wendover Woods (50 minutes), where there are many more walks on the ground. En route, explore the gardens, gallery, house and aviary at Waddesdon Manor (35 minutes). Or perhaps stop by The Bucks Goat Centre (35 minutes) for a family-friendly afternoon filled with activities such as petting and feeding the goats.

When you’ve done enough walking for the day, let your upper body do all the work on a boat, kayak or canoe on the river in Oxford (half an hour). Take yourself on a walking tour if you wish, as there’s the Oxford Castle and Prison, the domed Radcliffe Camera library and the historic Bridge of Sighs around the city.
