  • A five-minute drive to Black Park Country Park for walking and fishing
  • Doggie daycare on site; pub and food shop within walking distance
Clock in for a relaxing time at Stokes Poges Campsite, a peaceful dog-friendly site in Buckinghamshire. With treetop courses and lakeside walks at Black Park Country Park five minutes’ drive away, this site is well-situated for some family (or friends) to spend some quality time, whether it’s visiting London’s sights (a 25-minute journey from the Gerrards Cross train station, five minutes’ drive away) or kayaking around the canals in the Colne Valley Regional Park, 15 minutes’ drive away. With grassy pitches and woodlands around the site, unwind with a gentle stroll as you please. Things are kept nicely straightforward on site with potable toilets, rubbish bins and running water where you can tend to any water bottles running low. Fancy bringing your dog along? Happily, dogs are allowed on site. And if you’re planning on visiting one of the local attractions where they can’t come along for the ride, there’s a doggie daycare on site (open Monday through to Friday) where you can leave them while you’re out. For an evening out, there’s a pub 10 minutes’ walk down the road. Handily, there’s also a food shop five minutes’ walk in the opposite direction where you can fill your pockets with snacks to munch on throughout the day.

Liked: Lovely woodland escape, just as we had hoped. I was concerned by some of the reviews. When we go camping we don't like "proper campsites". We want to be out in the wilderness and feel like we are away from the crowds and noise of our busy city life. We booked this campsite last minute and we were so happy with what we got. We had a huge, private "pitch" in the woods that we scouted out ourselves and we were able to set up a comfortable, private camp away from the other tents. We had everything we needed and the toilet was much nicer than the portaloos we are used to at wild camp sites like this. The communication, access, ease to find and most importantly peacefulness and space that we had to ourselves were fantastic. We will absolutely be back! If you're expecting a campsite with toilet blocks, showers and entertainment, this is the wrong site for you! I think the negative reviews are really unfair as people obviously are booking with the wrong expectations.

Disliked: Nothing. This was exactly what we wanted and expected.

Liked: The woods

Disliked: It didn’t feel safe. It felt like we were camping somewhere random and trespassing. No one was present at the campsite, the toilet was dirty and we had to bring our own toilet roll, it shared the site with a paintballing Centre, it just felt that it wasn’t a real campsite and I didn’t feel that safe.

Liked: Quiet

Disliked: Toilets were very basic (we knew there were no showers - so not bothered by that). They were relatively clean though.

Liked: We had the most relaxing weekend tucked away in the woodland. It was so peaceful even with other campers on the site. The added bonus was the fire pit which we took advantage of throughout the weekend. We explored the area but looked forward to returning back to camp. We woke up late which was just what we needed. We met the host Barbara who was lovely and we had contact from the start of the booking. We even had a deer visit each morning. The gate was locked each evening to make the place secure. We will definitely be returning soon. Highly recommended site.

Liked: Wildlife - we had a deer visit the field every evening. Conveniently near shops. Only us in the entire field. Gate with coded lock to enter with a car.

Disliked: Long grass and mowed grass left out so lots of bugs. Lots of rubbish in the trees and on the field, probably an accumulation from other inconsiderate campers. There is a paintball centre on site with lots of cars in the car park right next to the campground.

Unpowered grass caravan site

Liked: Very handy for Gerrards Cross and access to London . Quiet.

Disliked: Difficult to find. Very , very basic. No showers, toilet needs a refurb. Grass not mowed at all, no pitches demarcated. Woodland area, ground not cleared at all, so with caravan would risk damaging tyres.
