Loved the layout of the site. The main focus was a lake in the middle of the site. There was a small playground area for the children play on and plenty of room for games on the grass near the lake as well.
There was also a gate on the fence that led you to the car park of the pub next door so not far to stagger home after having a few drinks and a meal. There are turns on sometimes on a Saturday, there was a wedding on when we stayed so a free DJ while we were having a couple. Only downside was the music was going on until midnight, not an issue for us but might be for families with small children.
Security was really good and the wardens were lovely.

Toilet block only has 2 toilets and one shower. Not an issue for us as we were in the caravan but the site caters for tents as well so I could imagine it would be a queue during the busy months.

Beautiful area

Only one shower and two toilets for women and the same for men. You definitely had to be very quick in the shower as you had to put your money in and then walk past the toilets to get to the shower which started as soon as you put the money in. But lovely hot water. The warden was there on and off and there was a phone number for emergencies. Only two water taps for the whole campsite but there wasn’t many people staying. These would be issues should they be full. The pub next door was nice and friendly. But there was no information on the campsite for local activities/events. The wifi wasn’t the best but there was a good tv signal.

Lovely quiet campsite. Staff are very friendly. Exactly what we needed for a base either side of a Sunday ticket at Download Festival. Will be looking to book this camp site again next year.

This was our second stay at this site and once again an absolute pleasure. The warden is so helpful and keeps the place so tidy.

Site was signposted from the road, well kept and secure. Pitch was sizeable and level ground with electric hook up and potable water both close by. Wayne, the warden was on hand to greet us and available at any time. Toilets were clean and tidy. The Old Crown next door had a nice selection of pub food, with welcoming staff. Allowed back on site at 2 am via keypad entry after the day at Download Festival, tried to be as quiet as we could. Everyone on site was friendly with families and a couple of dogs all on good form. Pretty much everything was what we wanted so 9/10.

Niggle bits. Hot water tap in the ladies loos was fiddlely, a shelf to put items on, whilst having a wash would be helpful. Showers are coin operated but didn’t use, so can’t comment. An additional cubicle in the ladies would have been useful (according to lady wife).

Wayne, the warden, was very pleasant

The road(-right at the side of the tent pitches....with pretty frequent noise of fast drive-bys!!). No noise curfew, as described on website!! VERY late noise from apparent local who outdoes Download with loud music/talk over mic beyond 1am.....happens every year....Avoid!!

Very clean and well kept. Very friendly welcome even showed us to our pitch. Pub next door food was lovely so we really enjoyed our stay.
