Lovely staff, all worked hard to keep the campsite clean and tidy. Great pub onsite. Campsite was peaceful. Plenty of space on the pitch.

    Disliked:

Although very clean, the shower areas could do with new flooring and updating. The pub garden is sloping so the benches could do with levelling up and more garden umbrellas would be great when it’s sunny.

Generally a good campsite. Not ideal for large dogs.05/05/2025

The privacy of the pitch, with water and electricity available on the pitch.

The pool was good for cooling down and relaxing.

    Disliked:

Nowhere to walk the dog where he can do his business away from other tents etc. This is why I didn't give 5 stars.

We booked the site as the advert said there was a "woodland walk", implying somewhere we could let the dog off the lead, this was just a short footpath named "the grove" it wasn't a woodland walk.

Also, an area with a hosepipe where we could wash/cool the dog would be good.

Replacement gas bottles were VERY expensive. If you booking the campsite make sure you have enough gas with you.

Pitches were quite close as my neighbour was on her phone and could hear her all night, only thing that ruined it but I was unlucky, wouldn't stop me coming back

Fantastic customer service! We had an issue with some noisy neighbours on our first night. When we discussed with reception in the morning, they committed to speak with them, but also gave us the option of moving pitch. We chose to move to ensure the issue was resolved. Having spent the time moving, we felt we'd lost out on some of our holiday time and decided to inquire about extending an extra night. Not only did they confirm that it was an option, but they also gave us the extra night for FREE in light of the hassle we'd had. Obviously we were fortunate to have the leave off work that allowed us to extend, and the ideal scenario is to never have problem neighbours in the first place but, from the perspective of the site and its staff, we could not have asked for more given the situation.

Beyond this, the facilities all seem good and well-maintained. Toilets and showers all fine. Swimming pool is kept at a nice temperature with good changing room and shower facilities. The restaurant/bar has a nice family-friendly atmosphere with good food and drink on offer.

Location is really nice for visiting Cheddar, Wookey Hole and Wells. Weston-super-Mare is just a 35 minute drive to the west as well.

Will definitely be heading here again when we're next visiting the area!

    Disliked:

As some other reviews have mentioned, there appear to be some dog kennels close to the site, so you do get barking early in the morning. None of us had any problems with it, but if you're not the deepest of sleepers and you're in a tent towards the South end of the site, I can see how it might become an issue.

Obviously in an ideal world, it'd be great if the bar/restaurant was open throughout the week, and if the pool stayed open a little later into the day (it closes at 5pm). For the cost of the site though, we felt the current offering was decent. Just make sure you're clued up on what will be open and when ahead of booking to avoid disappointment.

Wonderful little, well kept site. Perfectly placed to visit Cheddar Gorge and Wokey Hole. Fantastic car boot approximately 3 miles away.
Friendly staff, always busy keeping people happy.
Good shop, especially for bits you might of forgot, not overpriced.
Busy bar and play area outside of you have younger children. You could order food at the bar, but we didn’t this time.
Bingo on first night and other activities each evening.
Important for us that it was dog friendly and it was.

    Disliked:

You couldn’t get breakfast/hot food during the morning.
The bar/restaurant didn’t open till the afternoon.
Pool is tiny, but would be great for young families with toddlers.
Think there was a boarding place for dogs on the hill behind, you could hear them barking, constantly.
