- Peaceful adults-only touring park set among mountains and vineyards
- Five minutes' drive to the edge of the Sierra del Carche Regional Park
- Tapas restaurant and bar serving cured meats and locally produced wine
In need of a bit of El Tranquilo on your hols? This adults-only touring park is set in a small hamlet just outside the traditional town of Pinoso and promises just that. (Happily, though, this mountainous countryside of the Alicante/ Murcia border right near Sierra del Carche Regional Park is an area scattered with vineyards and historic working hamlets, so you're never going to be too far from a fine wine or a fiesta.)
El Tranquilo is safe, secure and accessible, with easy access points, wide roads and obstacle-free turning areas. It has roomy pitches, surrounded by olive and almond groves as well as orange and lemon trees.
Games of boules can be followed by a cooling dip in the outdoor pool, after which you can relax with a beer or a glass of locally produced wine at the on-site bar while you watch the sun sink over the Sierra del Carche. Barbecues and picnics are strongly encouraged, but if the heat becomes too much and you're not up for slaving over hot charcoals then fret not: the on-site tapas bar serves local cuisine including salads, cured meat platters and traditional local dishes.
El Tranquilo is a dog-friendly site and there are plenty of safe off-road walking trails around the site.

Local attractions
If walking or cycling's your thing, the off-road trails in the immediate area will take you along roads, up forested hillsides and past old farmhouses; for photographers and artists, this is a pretty excellent spot.
Lots of little villages are within easy reach of El Tranquilo too, such as upmarket Las Encebras, with its own local bar restaurant, Alguena and its lively café-bar and restaurant scene and Sunday market, plus Paredon and Raspay. For more food and markets, Pinoso (under 10 minutes' drive away) has over 70 restaurants and bars as well as greengrocers, bakeries, butchers, fishmongers and a Saturday market.
For wildlife watching, the Sierra del Carche Regional Park, included in the Natura 2000 Network, is home to bats, hedgehogs, rabbits, shrews and the occasional wild cat, badger and pine marten. Also of interest in the park are several archaeological sites, from well-preserved Bronze Age Iberian settlements – including the Cave of the Castellar, the Castillicos del Salero and the Romanía – to a Roman aqueduct in La Romanía and several Roman settlements in the north and the west.
