Fancy a few days of feeling like royalty? Jump in the carriage for a regal stay at Camping Cambrils Caban, a family-friendly site 10 minutes from the seaside town of Cambrils and 20 minutes from the Catalonia port city of Tarragona. You'll feel like kings, queens, princesses and princelings here, with plenty easily to hand that’ll keep you busy, entertained and well looked after: there’s a playground for the kids, football, basketball and ping pong for the sporty (and a projector so footie fans don’t miss any games), pétanque for a taste of local pastimes and two swimming pools for afternoon dips. When food is beckoning, there’s no need to travel too far – there’s a bar-restaurant next to the pool for quick snacks, welcome ice creams, refreshing cocktails and sit-down meals, and an on-site supermarket should have everything needed for evening barbecues. There’s so much to do on site it’d be easy to never leave, but be sure not to miss out on this gorgeous part of Spain. Rent bikes on site for breezy cycles along the coast, or stay close to base with trips into the UNESCO-listed city of Tarragona for history, shops and thrills at theme parks and waterparks. Liked: Lovely friendly and helpful staff Very clean facilities and hot water in the showers. Location for walking to the beach and restaurants

Disliked: Cold water only for washing up No WiFi despite being advertised as having WiFi Having to carry rubbish out into the main road where the community bins were located. A nearby camp playing loud music into the early hours of Saturday morning (not the fault of the campsite of course).

Liked: Space, quiet as out of season, cafe food. Waste water disposal on pitch

Disliked: No water on pitch however not far away. No hot water for washing up or washing. Showers adequate Swimming pool closed

Liked: Spacious pitch, facilities plentiful and very clean. Easy walk to sea, close to supermarkets and walking distance to bars and restaurants. Excellent wifi.

Disliked: Huge site, which was almost empty, so felt like a ghost town. Pool closed on the day we arrived. Perhaps would have more occupants if facilities were open?

Local attractions

What’s a sunny getaway without a splashing time at the beach? There’s a fab sandy stretch of the Costa Dorada five minutes’ drive (a 10-minute walk) from the site for strolls, sandcastles and swims, and a watersports centre is 10 minutes away for getting out in the water to give paddleboarding, surfing, kayaking and windsurfing a go. To get to grips with everything below the waves, try the diving centre within 10 minutes of base, or keep the watery activities altogether more controlled with an afternoon (or a whole day) 15 minutes away at Aquopolis waterpark. If that's got the kids screaming for more, never fear: PortAventura World is near. The whole family can get adrenaline spiking on theme park rides, cool off in the waterpark, or (and?) live out car racing dreams at Ferrari Land, less than 15 minutes from the site. Something for the grownups? A full explore of the coastal towns and villages comes highly recommended, with a stop at Tarragona for a cute Old Town, lots of UNESCO sites, stellar museums and plenty of shopping an absolute must. Not ready to head home? Celebrate a successful holiday with a tour of the dozen or so vineyards and wineries within an hour.

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
