It's free, quick and easy!
- Family-friendly site on the banks of the Tarn river in Aiguelèze
- Walking distance to tennis, golf, fishing, canoeing and boat trips
- Heated pool, kids' activities and bike hire on site
Golf, fishing, canoeing, paddleboarding, boat trips, balloon rides… all fab things to get up to on your hols. Constantly piling kids and kit in the car to get to them all? Perhaps not so much.
Nodding in agreement? Then consider a stay at Camping Les Pommiers d’Aiguelèze, on the banks of the Tarn river in the village of Aiguelèze and a mere stroll from all these activities. Hire bikes on site and you could easily spend several blissful driving-free days here (although if you do have a car you’ll be able to take day trips to the nearby towns of Albi and Gaillac, visit the area’s châteaux and head to the space-focused theme park in Toulouse, 45 minutes away).
As well as all the handy activities nearby, there’s also plenty to keep guests happily amused on site – games of beach volleyball, table tennis and pétanque, and small-folk fun at the playground or trampolines. In summer you can also hit the heated outdoor pool, where the paddling pool has been niftily fitted with a spa bench for supervising grownups. Or maybe pack les enfants off to the kids’ club so they can learn circus skills, sing songs and bake biscuits while you have a cheeky siesta.
Barbecues are on site for cooking up your alfresco feasts; buy the necessaries (including fresh bread) from the small shop on site or the bigger supermarkets 10 minutes away in Gaillac. Reward your efforts with a drink from the bar afterwards, or shun the whole cooking process by wandering out to the restaurant a couple of minutes away.

Local attractions
For a teeny place, Aiguelèze crams in a heap of activities – the Tarn river has some super spots for fishing and swimming, and visitors can hire boats or paddleboards or take boat trips from the marina. There are tennis courts, a miniature golf course, a 9-hole golf course and a hot air balloon base, too.
If you’re fond of a glass of vino, Gaillac (a 10-minute drive away) is the place; the region has been growing grapes since Roman times. Visit the town’s wine museum before heading out to some of the local vineyards for tastings.
Nearby Albi, 20 minutes’ drive away, is also a worth a trip, to wander through its car-free medieval centre and visit the Toulouse-Lautrec museum. Fashion fans may also like to explore the clothing collections at the town’s Musée de la Mode.
