It's free, quick and easy!
- Peaceful beachfront site, a 15-minute walk to Necoclí’s bars and shops
- Hire kayaks or take boat trips to see Colombia’s Caribbean coast
- Outdoor barbecue area, showers and toilets on site
When it's time to relax, where better to do so than beside the sea? Transport yourself to Necoclí’s blissful Playa Linda beach for stays at the seafront Camping Mar y Luna, where the beach bars are just a stroll away and the sunsets are dreamy. Need some proof? Just take a look at the pics.
Kayaks can be hired for adventures on the water and, if you’re looking to venture further afield, it’s possible to get a boat to Capurganá, a remote spot on Colombia’s Caribbean coast, famed for its quiet bays and dense rainforest.
Prefer your explores to take place on dry land? No problem… this is also a good base for walks and cycling. The Department of Antioquia (in which Necoclí is found) is quite mountainous, so there are plenty of hiking trails to conquer and pretty birds to spot along the way.
On site, there’s an outdoor barbecue area, so you can settle down to take in your scenic surroundings while you feast, and there’s practical stuff like toilets, showers and a washing-up area.
Just so you know, cars aren’t allowed on site – all the better to preserve its natural beauty – but there’s a car park around one kilometre away.

Local attractions
There’s not a great stack of tourist attractions around these parts – the main draw is the sunshine-soaked Caribbean coastline itself. This area is relatively unaffected by Colombia’s rainy season, so lazy beach days and relaxing evenings watching the sun go down should be on the cards for much of the year. The beach bars, seafront eateries and shops of Necoclí are a 15-minute stroll away, so nothing too strenuous there, either.
This part of the world is home to several mud volcanos, which pull in the crowds thanks to their alleged healing properties (quite literally pull them in – visitors jump in to bathe in the warm mud). The nearest is a 45-minute walk away (or a 10-minute drive) if your bod’s in need of a little nourishment.
Setting sight a bit further? Ensenada de Rionegro, in Punta Arenas, can be reached by boat in an hour, taking you to the northern end of the Gulf of Urabá. Be on the lookout for fish like shad, groupers and snappers… rumour has it you might get lucky with a manatee sighting, too. Wildlife spots continue in the surrounding mangroves, which are a refuge for migratory birds, such as seagulls and pelicans.
