It's free, quick and easy!
- Riverside site 200 metres from Manning Point beach
- Excellent area for river, freshwater and sea fishing
- Two landscaped pools, two playgrounds and a barbecue area
Cast off happily from around Ocean Shores Holiday Park: it's on the coast next to the mouth of the Manning river, a mere couple of hundred metres from the famed fishing spot of Manning Point harbour.
River, freshwater and sea fishing are all a piece of cake to access around this chunk of New South Wales coast, where angling options include the Harrington break wall, oyster leases and weed beds at Manning Point and landing bream a little way away at Pelican Bay and Scotts Creek. (The East Shores crew knows its fishy stuff when it comes to angling, so feel free to ask advice on other top places nearby to take your rod.)
Not an angler? Fret not, for this is beach land too. Surf, swim, sunbathe or kitesurf all the day(s) long, at the local sands 200 metres away or nearby at Harrington, Crowdy Bay, Old Bar and Saltwater: the team knows its stuff on these too and can point you in the right sandy direction. National parks are nearby as well for walking, cycling, tours and wildlife watching.
Set about 45 kilometres south of Port Macquari, East Shores is a mid-sized site with pitches among its trees. It has two landscaped pools to keep you busy when you're not fishing or at the beach; two playgrounds, and a big jumping pillow to bounce around at.
A barbecue area is on site to take care of the cooking: groceries and grog can be sourced at the general store in nearby Manning Point village.

Local attractions
Beach days beckon once you've landed your lot fishing from Manning Point harbour or around the local creeks: try Crowdy Bay (five kilometres), the site of a walk through Australian coastal rainforest; Old Bar (12 kilometres), where there's another walking trail of four kilometres and a famed beach festival each October; and the adjacent sands and waves of Saltwater and Wallabi (15 kilometres), a top New South Wales surfing spot.
Crowdy Bay National Park, along the coast just to the north of East Shore, has more fishing spots, along with walking trails, picnic areas and whale watching from May to November.
There's also Saltwater National Park (15 kilometres), for bushwalking, canoeing, kayaking and swimming, and Wingham Brush National Park (40 kilometres), home of flying foxes, rainforest walks and a bush boardwalk. Mountain bike trails are in the Kiwarrak State Forest, 30 kilometres away.
Manning Regional Art Gallery at Taree (30 kilometres) should sort out those who fancy being cultural, while if you're travelling with kids, the Big Buzz Fun Park at Rainbow Flat (40 kilometres) has waterslides, toboggan rides, speed karts and golf.
