Quarry Park Camping: Field around Quarry Park

General

  • Family-run Pembrokeshire site with views over the Preseli Hills
  • A 15-minute drive from Haverfordwest; 30 minutes from St Davids
  • Private barbecue area for each pitch with firepit and furniture

If a small-scale, peaceful site deep in the Pembrokeshire countryside wouldn't go amiss, then set your sights on Quarry Park Camping near Haverfordwest. Alongside the well-kept (and very spacious) main pitching field, there's a small woodland here for strolls around the site. Many more top walks can easily be reached on foot – or, if you're after hikes along the Wales Coast Path or up in the Preseli Hills, after a short drive.

Make tracks here if you fancy cooking and eating in the open air – each pitch has a private firepit with barbecue grill and outdoor furniture, with wood, kindling and charcoal handily all available to buy on site. For an extra kick of flavour, feel free to drop by the community herb garden and help yourself. Got leftovers? Fridge-freezers are available for shared use.

This site may have a low-key, back to basics vibe, but it's also home to great facilities like free wifi (at reception), a laundry area and – on the off chance you need protection from the elements – a nifty covered area. There's also a small shop at reception where you can stock up on holiday basics, including free-range eggs and local honey. For more food shops and restaurant options, head 10 minutes down the road to Narbeth.

Dogs are welcome to stay here, but please keep them on their best behaviour at all times.

Please note

All onsite food and drink establishments are closed due to restrictions imposed by the coronavirus outbreak.

Minimum spacing of 10 metres between pitches.

Units longer than 10 metres are not allowed.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Your dog must be tattooed or microchipped.

At least one of the party members must be aged 21 or over.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Really friendly owner, contacted us on our way to the site and greeted us when we arrived. The site is a small one but with large pitches so you have plenty of space between you and the next tent so it doesn't feel cramped at all. The tent pitches have been designed to a high standard, are level, with the grass mowed to different lengths to mark out the pitch. The facilities are great, really clean and with added bonus of a choice of fire pits to use. There is a large collection of chopped wood for the fire pits although it does cost extra to have some, which seemed fair.

    Disliked:

Not sure if it is on the site but a cockerel started making it's good morning call at around 4am and did this a few times until about 7:30am so sleep was difficult during these hours. We felt a bit of pressure not to use the shower as because there was only one it would have to be disinfected after each use due to Covid which the owner explained to us. We didn't want to cause a problem but we had paid for the facilities so it was a shame not to be able to use them.

From the manager...

Thank you very much for your review, I am delighted that you liked our pitches and accommodation.
I am sorry you weren’t happy with our shower situation. We have several showers and allocate one to each pitch at the moment, with a thorough disinfect in between each visitor. I hadn’t intended to put you off using the shower, but was trying to reassure you of our covid precautions. Apologies if this affected your enjoyment of your stay.
Thank you for staying with us, and you are welcome back again anytime.

Not a dislike but a recommendation. Loved to hear the chickens and buy their eggs.
If at all possible, would have been a bonus to see them especially for children

From the manager...

Thank you very much for your review, I would love to have my chickens viewable for our campers, I’ll have to work out how to safely do that, hopefully before next season!!!
Take care. x

I'm so glad to have found this campsite and will definitely return. Matt's attention to detail is superb. He's created a lovely space for simple, green camping and, as a result, it is unusual and sophisticated! There are charging points for phones, but not by the pitches, which is great because you are able to get away from all that jazz, light a fire, lift a glass, gaze at the stars and listen for the owl. Everywhere is spotless, of course.

The location means you are bang in the middle of Pembrokeshire so have lots of choice for walks, as well as being close to pretty Narberth and Haverfordwest for shopping.

This is a brilliant new campsite and I have already recommended it to friends!
Matt was very welcoming and helpful. The pitches are well spaced out and include a picnic bench and fire pit. Only a few pitches and no cars by the pitch (once you have unpacked) meant the children could play safely on the grass area in the middle of the field, they also enjoyed the chalkboard and playing in the barn area when it rained.
The facilities were clean, good showers, plenty of hot water and useful to have the fridge/freezer and hand sanitizer dispensers.
Thanks for a lovely camping holiday and hopefully we will be back next year!

We had an amazing time at Quarry Park! Matt was very helpful and accommodating throughout our stay. There is a useful reception area that provides leaflets and maps of the surrounding area as well as fresh eggs from his chickens (sometimes roaming around the campsite near the barn), locally produced honey, and a herb garden situated just outside. The pitches have their own grassy border (with tree saplings starting to grow) that provided us with plenty of privacy. All utilities (2 showers, 3 toilets, wash up area, fridge freezer) were in excellent condition and lots of hand sanitizer stations for COVID. There is a barn with picnic tables that provided us shelter when cooking in moments of heavy wind and rain. The location is equidistance to most places, beaches, hills etc. so we got to see lots of Pembrokeshire throughout it our week stay. Looking forward to coming back next year!

Everything was wonderful, this was hands down the best campsite we have ever stayed at. Everything was clean and the shower room was beautifully done. All pitches were nicely spaced out and the provision of a fire pit/bbq did not go amiss! There were also several sanitiser stations which was great, and the communal fridges were a brilliant addition. Matt was a perfect host making sure at every opportunity our trip was a success. After a 4hour drive to get there, we really hoped for a good campsite and we were not disappointed. Thank you again Matt for a wonderful stay and being a wonderful host.
