Ritec Valley Glamping: Surrounded by greenery

General

  • Peaceful and secluded Pembrokeshire site in the Ritec Valley
  • Close to the coast: 10 minutes' drive to Tenby or 15 to Saundersfoot
  • Three village pubs and a local shop within a 20-minute walk

Ready for the green, serene surrounds of the Ritec Valley? Ritec Valley Glamping is a peaceful farm site close to the Pembrokeshire village of St Florence. This part of the Welsh coast has several top seaside spots to choose from: whether you opt for days sunbathing on Tenby beach (10 minutes' drive) or a spiritual jaunt to nearby Caldey Island, this site makes a great base if you’re on the hunt for coastal vistas and plenty of sea air.

Ritec Valley Glamping is a family-friendly spot: kids are welcome here, as are four-legged friends (both have access to plenty of green space where they can run around and let off some steam). The high-spec accommodation is fully furnished, with lots of fab touches including a gas barbecue, outdoor furniture and handy charging points for all your gadgets. No queues for the loo here – each unit comes with a private toilet and piping-hot shower.

Come dinnertime, you can choose between self-barbecued grub and heading out to one of the area's gastropubs (three such fine establishments are within walking distance). Need to stock up on holiday supplies? No problem – there's a well-stocked village store about a 20-minute stroll away; there are bigger supermarkets on hand in nearby Tenby, too.

Please note

At least one of the party members must be aged 21 or over.

We absolutely loved on mini break to Ritec Valley! I admit I was dubious, I’m not a ‘camper’ but there was no need to worry, it was amazing!

The communication with laura was excellent. Prior to our arrival I had a few questions, Laura responded quickly.

The tent was immaculate, everything smelled fresh. The beds were really comfortable.

Everything we needed apart from towels were supplied, that included bedding, cutlery, plates, lamps, even fly spray and citronella incense was supplied;not that flies were a problem)

We loved that we had our own bathroom. We stayed in the poppy tent, which has the smaller bathroom. The bathroom was absolutely adequate for my Husband, Son (13yrs) and I. The shower was really powerful and warm!

The kitchen space was shared with the other tent, but each tent has its own individual fridge, microwave and kettle. In addition you have your own gas bbq next to your tent.

There are numerous beaches a short drive away, all of which are beautiful.

The tent has no electricity, lighting is provided by battery lamps. On our first night we noticed that the batteries were running low. We spoke with Laura and Rhys in the morning and it was sorted promptly, I’m only mentioning this to show that IF you had any problems the owners appear to really care and want you to enjoy your stay,!

Our Son is 13 and loved it, I think it’s also a lovely place for younger families.

There is limited 3G/4G in the field, we saw this as more of an advantage than disadvantage!!

We had a really relaxing time, my only concern in writing a review is that to many people will fall in love with Ritec and we may struggle to get in next year!

    A suggestion if you do book/stay;
You don’t need to take bedding, but do take plenty of towels, we struggled to get ours dry. After reading previous reviews we took extra fire lighters and dried logs which we used. Logs and fire lighters were supplied and I’m 100% if you asked you’d be given more, we just found it helpful to have extra.

Tent was a good size, perfect for 5 people. Lots of things were included - plates, crockery, proper BBQ etc. Good location for exploring the area so long as you have a car. Was great to have a shower/toilet that was just for our tent. Laura always responded to any queries/problems quickly.

    Disliked:

Path between tent and kitchen/bathroom block became very slippery. Lots of flies around the cars/tent but Laura came and brought some candles to try and improve this. Overall great value for money.

On the whole a good stay08/29/2020

The tent was great, lots of space and comfy beds. Everything you needed to cook and your own toilet, shower, kettle, microwave and fridge was a bonus. We asked if there was anywhere we could buy logs and were brought some straight round. Lovely personal touches with a welcome board and marshmallows for round the campfire.

    Disliked:

I think the grass could have been mowed as once it rained it was up to the kids calves and them being soaking could have been avoided. Also maybe laying some gravel or stones from the tents to the toilet block. Possibly instructions on lighting the log burner would have helped us, we got there by the second night. Non of this would however stop us coming back but just lift the stay to the next level.

The Tent is so clean and well presented. Designated toilet and shower for each tent is a brilliant idea. There is a safe for charging phones and other valuables. Everyone is provided like cutleries and plates which is very convenient. Though mobile network coverage is limited it was a bonus because the children was off their gadgets for the entire stay! We had a nice walk around the village, quite and peaceful. The locals are very friendly and welcoming ❤

    Disliked:

The footpath going to the toilet/ shower and kitchen area was muddy and slippery, it would be nice if there is a small concrete path for safety.

Had a fantastic short break at Ritec Valley glamping. The bell tent was superb. Lots of space with very comfortable beds and some thoughtful unexpected touches. We loved the set up outside where there's a large gas bbq and plenty of space for eating/ chilling/ socialising. Toasting marshmallows over the open fire in the middle of nature was definitely a high point.
Laura is a great host who has thought of everything and couldn't do enough for us. Everything is in place for maximum comfort and cleanliness and a lot of work has clearly been done to ensure the glamping set up is adapted to the new covid way of life. If you, like me, love to be outdoors but with home comforts and some luxury - this glamping experience is you. We'd love to come back.

Great accommodation. Make sure you get 'sunflower'08/05/2020

Lovely tents, everything you need is provided including extras like marshmallows and small amount of firewood to get started (if using the wood burner in tent would recommend bringing kindling as the wood provided was a bit damp to get the burner going). Beds comfy, bedding clean and warm. Everything very clean. Use of own fridge, microwave and kettle. Only two units in the field. Location was easy to find. If travelling with children make sure they have wellies and waterproof trousers as the grass is long (but the kids loved running in it!). Nice they had a field to run in.
Would recommend to a friend only if they can book 'sunflower' tent or were travelling as a group booking both tents.

    Disliked:

The bathroom. Can't rate at 5* as the bathroom for our tent 'poppy' was hideously small and completely impractical for dealing with children in, and equally wasn't great as an adult as had to limbo onto the toilet around the sink and no where to hook towels and clothes (think size of a wide bath with shower, toilet and a medium to large sink). The bathroom for the 'sunflower' tent was huge in comparison and much more practical. Would only consider booking again if travelling with family and booking both tents so no need for the 'poppy' bathroom or booking 'sunflower'
Not the owners fault but be aware there is no reception for mobile internet which made it frustrating trying to plan where and what we were going to do in the local area.

Local attractions

Tenby (10 minutes' drive) is a tremendous little spot where you can paddle, swim or climb up to castle ruins on a nearby headland (head here for stunning 360° sea vistas). Boat trips over to Caldey Island (crossing time 20 minutes) also come highly recommended. There's plenty of spiritual stuff in the air here – Cistercian monks have called this place home for hundreds of years (with views like these, it’s easy to see why).

If after island trips you're still yearning for more sand and surf, book yourself onto a seal-watching tour at Tenby harbour (you might just spot some dolphins in these waters, too). For a change of scene, head to nearby Saundersfoot (15 minutes) where you can try your hand at windsurfing or paddle around the peaceful harbour in a kayak (kit can be rented in town).

For kid-pleasing days, head inland to Heatherton World of Activities (five minutes' drive) – there's simply oodles to do here, with paintball, miniature golf, zipwires, archery and more at your little darlings' fingertips. For a top-rated local zoo, check out Manor Wildlife Park, where you can get up close and personal with cuddly bunnies and red pandas.
