  • Peaceful park with stunning sea views and access to coastal walks
  • A 15-minute walk to Tresaith beach and 25 to Aberporth
  • Caravan site next door with a clubhouse for entertainment and meals
With sea views to the front and top-notch Tresaith beach about a 10-minute walk to the east, it’s no exaggeration to say Aberporth Camping is in a splendid setting. Come here for all sorts of activities that are good for your ‘iechyd’ (that’s health or wellbeing in the local lingo), from coastal walks along Wales’ countrywide sea path to dolphin spotting in lush bays. Other Ceredigion beaches are close by too, like Aberporth (where you might also catch a glimpse of harbour porpoises and seals, a 25-minute walk away) and small but stunning Cilborth cove within 15 minutes’ drive. Much like the sandy shores in this area, the site’s pretty simple – it’s all about being in a wild setting – but next door’s caravan park has a clubhouse for meals, takeaways and family-friendly shows when you’re after a bit extra. Pubs and small shops (as well as parks for the kids) are over in Aberporth town, a 20-minute stroll away. If the surf usually ends up calling your name, the best chances of taking to the swell are at Tresaith beach, Poppit Sands (25 minutes) or Llangrannog (15 minutes). For coasteering, paddleboarding and sea kayaking, Cardigan (also 15 minutes away) has tour agencies and shops for sorting lessons or hiring equipment. The site has portable toilets; barbecues and campfires are allowed.

Local attractions

You can’t come to Wales without getting up close and personal with a castle, so get a roam in around some ruins over at Cilgerran about a 20-minute drive away. Cardigan’s also got its own stately structure, built in the 11th century and set on the pretty River Teifi. Keeping to the river but a little further inland, Cenarth Falls is 20 minutes away to see the salmon jumping in spawning season; mosey over to the Caws Cenarth farm as well while here to see how the cheese is made (as well as having a chomp on some). If river wanders have you wanting a dip in some water, a blue slate pool for submerging yourself in is at Rosebush (40 minutes away). And if you don't manage to spy any dolphins or porpoises at the coast? You can appease any disappointment with a visit to the Welsh Wildlife Centre a 25-minute drive from the park. Indoor days are sorted at the Internal Fire Museum of Power (less than 10 minutes) to learn about the inner workings of combustion engines.
