  • Family-run site with plenty of nearby walks
  • Dog friendly
  • Newly-built amenities cabin with hot showers
Woodland Rise Camping and Caravanning is a place for west Wales walkies. It's a family-run farm in the Carmarthenshire countryside, with plenty of space for dogs to stretch their legs and with local woodland trails where they can investigate All The Smells. And it's close to bluebell woods, and less than half an hour from magnificent coastal walks along the headlands of Carmarthenshire and Cardigan... Woodland Rise is in a meadow location on the farm of Fferm Fach in the quiet village of Blaen-y-coed, a peacefully rural location with west Wales views by day and starry skies by night. It has a newly-built and cosy amenities cabin with well-maintained toilets, two additional separate toilets, hot showers and washing-up facilities; a chemical disposal point and gas sales. Wifi is available for an extra fee, but please note that the rural location imposes limits on the wifi speed. The nearest place for supplies is Carmarthen about six miles away; nearby restaurants include the Blue Bell Inn Chinese restaurant (two miles) and the Nag's Head (ten miles). Barbecues are allowed on site.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: The site was so quiet! We’ve been to a lot of sites where the noise rules weren’t followed, but not here! It was lovely!! The fields behind were perfect for dog walks. The showers were hot, well kept and roomy enough. The owner was a great guy, informative and kept in touch, you can definitely tell he loves this site and his role

Local attractions

Feel free to wander around the Woodland Rise meadow grounds if you fancy a stroll very close to home; a short walk away from site is a bluebell wood recommended by the farm team for morning meanders. The 600 acres of countryside, formal gardens and a nature reserve of the National Botanic Gardens of Wales are 15 miles or about half an hour's drive away and are a ripping option for a day out (although be aware that you won't be allowed in if you do have your dog on holiday with you). The Dylan Thomas Boathouse, where the writer spent the last four years of his life, is about 15 miles away at Laugharne and has lyrically good views of the Taf Estuary and a tearoom noted as one of the top ten places in the UK for afternoon tea (soup, snacks, light lunches, homemade Welsh cakes and bara beith are also available). The 11h-century castle of Kidwelly 17 miles away is a must-see for history buffs in the region, still surviving after Owain Glyndwr’s attempts to destroy it (naughty);. If you fancy more of the same, Kidwelly is one of 12 castles in Carmarthenshire. A bit further afield at 24 miles but well worth the drive is the Colby Woodland Garden in Pembrokeshire, managed by the National Trust: come here to build dens, use the rope swings, amble along on a wildlife walk or join in the regular activities like campfire building. About six miles from Woodland Rise Camping and Caravanning, the Gwili Steam Railway company runs a preserved service from Bronwydd along a section of the old Carmarthen-Aberstwyth line.
