Woods, a stream and a lake. Check. Forest rambles and beaches within half an hour. Check. Hot tubs, heated pools… is this place for real? Yup, it's Rivendell Outdoor Club.

This most scenic spot is a clothing-optional resort in secluded woodland by a stream and lake, within 15 minutes' drive of the New Forest and 30 to 35 minutes from the seaside towns of Poole and Bournemouth. There's a mix of forest and open space for accommodation and activities, and everyone has access to the hot tub and swimming pool open in high season.

A barbecue area is available for guests' use and sunset drinks are served up at the poolside bar. The excellently-kept amenities (the attention to detail really does reach every nook and cranny here) include washrooms and showers, with toiletries provided.

Please note

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 01/05 and 30/09 (subject to weather conditions).

Guests under the age of 18 are not allowed on site.

No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Discount cards and gift vouchers cannot be applied to bookings made via Pitchup.com.

This is a small 'clothes-optional' site (not a naturist site, but naturist-friendly).

Having never been to a place where there is a ' clothing optional ' choice i felt a little apprehensive whilst driving down to Rivendell, not really knowing what to expect.
I needn't have worried however as the staff were all very helpful and friendly as were all of the people staying at the Outdoor Club.
There was a great atmosphere on the lovely site and i thoroughly enjoyed my weekends stay.
A most enlightening and entertaining few days that will live long in the memory.
I would certainly contemplate staying again in the future.

    Disliked:

Not a dislike really ,merely an observation . We were still partying late on Saturday night when the bar, pool and jacuzzi all closed and felt it would have been wonderful if they had stayed open longer .It was midnight i know.

Local attractions

Just over half an hour's drive away, Poole has plenty to offer for day trippers, with its sandy beaches, handsome Old Town and harbour area; it's also the departure point for boat trips out to Brownsea island, a wooded sanctuary teeming with wildlife. If this has given you a taste for seafaring, take a cruise along the Jurassic Coast or even a ferry to Jersey; if you want more time on the sand, Studland naturist beach is an hour away.

Those after bigger thrills in the water won't want to leave Splashdown waterpark (30 minutes), a wet and wild activity centre with pools and over a dozen indoor and outdoor flumes and rides. There's more of that inland at Dorset Waterpark, near Corfe Castle (45 minutes), and who could go near Corfe without going round the very fine old castle too…? For more ancient history, the isle of Purbeck (an hour) has plenty of opportunities for fossil hunters, and the famed monument of Stonehenge is 45 minutes from the site.

For petrolheads, the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu (45 minutes) has every kind of four-wheeled and three-wheeled thing and a collection of classic vehicles to gaze on enviously before you get back in your own. This is fine road trip country as well, with attractive old market towns like Wimborne Minster and stately homes like Kingston Lacy within 20 minutes of Rivendell.

Must see

  • Kingston Lacy House and Gardens (5.8 miles)
  • Adventure Wonderland (6.6 miles)
  • The Bournemouth Balloon (9.7 miles)

National Trust

  • Kingston Lacy (5.9 miles)
  • White Mill (7.1 miles)
