Naturally Glamping: Inside

General

  • Bell tents at a quiet Devon site 15 minutes' drive from Newton Abbot
  • A 20-minute drive to Dawlish beach, Exeter and Dartmoor
  • Double bed, firepit/barbecue and shared kitchen provided

Naturally Glamping is part of a peaceful rural Devon working farm with bell tents set well apart in a 2.5-acre meadow about 15 minutes’ drive from Newton Abbot.

It’s easily accessed from the A380 but this is a place that’s all about seclusion – think relaxed stays with lake views, woodland walks and a stream running down the hill to a fishing lake that connects to the river below. Unsurprisingly, it’s a bit of a wildlife haven too, and you may well spot things like glow worms and bats at night thanks to the lack of lighting around this off-grid place (although there is minimal solar electricity for when you need it…)

The surroundings may be pleasingly wild here accommodation certainly isn’t – in fact, the bell tents are rather smart, with a double bed made up ready for your arrival and all sorts of extra bits including bunting, fairy lights, rugs and a lantern to create a cosy atmosphere. Outdoor furniture is supplied too, along with a firepit/barbecue (just the place to settle down for an evening tending the grill while you admire the views…)

For facilities, it’s a short walk to the toilet/shower block and a basic kitchen area. Elsewhere around the site you can try your luck at the fishing lake (bring your own fishing kit), wander off to meet the horses and alpacas or head over the little bridge to access several miles of forest trail (heading all the way to the local pub if you wish).

Please note

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, customers can amend their dates with the campsite/holiday park free of charge for all stays up to, and including, July 1, 2021.

Minimum spacing of 10 metres between pitches.

Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

No naked flames are allowed inside the hired accommodation units.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

Swimming in the lake is not allowed.

No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

The kitchen facilities are closed due to restrictions imposed by the coronavirus outbreak.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

The washing-up area is not in operation due to restrictions imposed by the coronavirus outbreak.

The shared shower and toilet facilities are closed until 17/05/2021, but each tent has its own private portable shower and toilet until that date.

You are responsible for your own safety (please note there is a small lake and stream on site).

For 4x4 owners and braver drivers, there’s parking very close to pitches. For the rest, access from the main car park involves a 200-metre walk down a steep track, which can be slippery at times (wheelbarrows are provided for your gear.) Not suitable for people with reduced mobility.

This place is special. Done with so much care and love, the folks who run Naturally Glamping obviously have a passion for nature, for wildlife, for everything we love about the British countryside. So much to like, I'll make a list:

Location: Took my breath away. A huge pine forest overlooking the valley, fields full of sheep and cows, horses, even a few rabbits. The whole site has been worked with attention to detail, the tents are spaced for privacy, but everything's close enough that you can get to know your fellow campers if that's what you want. A stream running by, a pond complete with old wooden row boat. ADVICE: go by car. We took pushbikes (foolishly), and ended up locking them at the local pub - shout out The Ten Tors. You could also get the train to Newton Abbot and get a taxi.

Facilities: Everything you could possibly need is thought about. Camping toilet and shower were supplied as the main blocks were closed due to covid. an actual bed, loads of blankets (the nights do get chilly), a local wood seller for the firepit. Just bring yourselves, food and booze.

Communication: loads of info before the trip, instructions on how to use everything, the folks who run it give you their numbers in case you need help with anything. my wife and I booked this for our anniversary, and we found a surprise bottle of prosecco in our cooler.

Vibe: If you want to connect with nature and your loved ones, go here. Pure Devon. Magic memories made.

What a site! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, everything was spot on: Great communication from Leilah, easy check-in, spotless and comfortable bell tent/bed, lots of thoughtful touches. The site itself is magical. Surrounded by forest, paddocks and a stream. The soundtrack to our stay was birdsong, and the sound of the river. The layout and natural features of the site really differentiate the pitches, it didn't feel overlooked or overcrowded like some sites I have visited. Overall I really can't fault it, it was a comfortable and relaxing stay in a beautiful slice of Devon countryside. I will definitely be visiting again.

We loved naturally glamping, if you love camping with a touch of luxury this is for you, the tent was super the bed comfy, the little extras supplied was a lovely touch, we loved the scenery from our tent zippy, but all tents have a lovely view, the sight was clean and well maintained, very close to nature and you will encounter, rabbits, birds, herons, at night was lovely, we sat by the fire, cooked up some grub, and watched the night sky, all instructions given for arrivel was helpful and the track to the campsite really wasn't to bad, our car got up and down fine, lovely walks around, we visited canonteign falls on our second day 18mins away and had lovely day out, we found a co op store 6 mins drive away so was able to stock up on essentials.we met the naturally glamping owners on our 2nd day while they were setting up tents they were a lovely couple. You are pretty much left alone to enjoy your time there but they are on hand if you need anything, we will be visiting again as soon as we can , thankyou naturally glamping.
