  • South Devon working farm with scenic sea views
  • A mile from Start Point; Kingsbridge 20 minutes by car
  • Wild site within walking distance of the beach; fresh eggs available
Down Farm Wild Camping is roughly a mile from the south coast of Devon and the South West Coast Path. Located in a very quiet part of South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, these flat and level pitches are well-suited to tents, trailer tents and caravans and guests looking for rural farm stays with gorgeous views over Freshwater Bay. This site has no facilities (except for an outside toilet a few minutes' walk away by the farmhouse), making this very much a wild-style site where you'll be free of distractions from the gorgeous local wildlife. Down Farm grows plants and raises animals that you may see grazing in neighbouring fields and also sells fresh free-range eggs you can cook for breakfast. Well-behaved dogs are allowed at this pet-friendly site, and you're fine to bring barbecues too (as long as they're raised clear of the ground). Down Farm Wild Camping also accepts commercial vehicles. The nearest town, Kingsbridge, is a 20-minute drive away – head here to stock up on groceries, browse the local market or treat yourself to a meal out. For a relaxing drink or snack between Slapton Ley National Nature Reserve and the sea, head to Torcross (15 minutes), where there are several beachfront cafés to choose from.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: How remote and tucked away the location/farm was and that there were only 7 pitches so not very busy either. I liked that you could see the sea and hear all the farm animals & birds.

Disliked: Not being able to find the path down to the beach very easily but we were limited for time so we shall return to find the right way!

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Its very private pitch, not crowded at all, 20 min to beach with beautiful hiking road. There is a clean toilet and hot water to wash dishes. You can buy your fresh eggs if they are available .there is no phone reception in the pitch area so be prepared to fully switch off.
