Little Rock Cottage Camping and Glamping: Bell tent on lovely sunny day

General

  • Scenic three-acre site for peaceful escapes in the South Downs
  • A 20-minute drive to the south coast; 40 minutes to Brighton
  • A few minutes' walk from a waterfall and a mile from Storrington

Little Rock Cottage Camping and Glamping is a spacious, peaceful and wild three-acre field at the foot of the South Downs shared with lots of wildlife including deer, foxes, badgers, herons and buzzards.

All in all, it’s just the place for walking hols in the wilds of West Sussex. There’s access from the site to a footpath for wanders through the Fryern Dell woodland (a five-minute stroll) with its fallen trees, pretty stream and small waterfall; a couple of play parks are also within ambling distance. You can also follow this path straight into the local village of Storrington for particularly pretty access to a café, shops and pubs.

If you'd rather drive, Storrington is a five-minute drive away, and main traffic routes, buses and trains (Pulborough station is 10 minutes away) are easy to access so it's a cinch to get out and explore the area's many attractions.

On return after days out pottering along the South Downs Way (10 minutes) or in the pretty villages and handsome National Trust houses nearby, settle in to watch one of the stunning sunsets that regularly grace the sky at this special site – you might even be lucky enough to see a red kite.

A good night's sleep is possible after relaxed evenings as there’s a no-noise policy post-11pm.

Please note

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

If making a fire, the fuel, logs and coal have to be purchased on site.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

Bookings must not be for more than 42 consecutive nights.

Group bookings of 8 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

The farm next door will be holding a wedding on 05 June 2021 so please be aware that there may be some noise until 11pm that evening.

Very friendly, welcoming and accommodating host - Pam went out of her way for us, bringing additional chairs/crockery/firewood, nothing was too much trouble, she obviously cares that her guests have the best experience.
Wonderfully clean portaloo's and one per pitch to accommodate social distancing was great. Plus the shower block was lovely and clean! Best I have seen when camping.
Peaceful, beautiful surroundings with plenty to do and the additional little touches Pam includes makes the world of difference.
Also loved having a cover over the dining seating area - great addition!

We will definitely return and highly recommend to anyone who likes a more luxurious camping experience. Well worth a visit!!

Most spotless portaloo toilet I have ever seen, and we had it all to ourselves!! Plenty of space even when full would not be over crowded, very friendly and welcoming host, peaceful beautiful surroundings with plenty to do, and the dogs thoroughly enjoyed being off lead exploring around. Will definitely return and highly recommend, a well worth visit.

Pam was a lovely host. Really welcoming and helpful. She brought us logs for the fire, which we really enjoyed in the evening when making s’mores. The location is good- close Storington and to drive or cycle to Arundel. The campsite was also well organised to be covid friendly.

Spacious field, the pitches were well separated, we couldn’t even hear the other campers. We had our own dedicated toilet, and the shared showers and washing up facilities were spotless, with hot water available. Pam the host was wonderful, providing firewood for purchase and free freezer block replacement service. She even offered a grill rack for the fire pit so we could barbecue some burgers.

    Disliked:

Hard to find dislikes. Maybe a bit annoying to get out of the car to open/close the gate when driving in and out, also had to search far to find sticks for roasting marshmallows.

I honestly can't fault anything of our trip, except maybe the weather, but even that sometimes didn't matter. We brought our own setup so didn't get to stay in one of Pam's lovely tents/pod. Only 5 pitches so loads of room and no one ever feels on top of one another. Facilities are excellent, new and always clean. Pam is fab, warm welcoming and communication was easy. She brings round ice packs and wood everyday, and always seems to be on hand. All credit to Pam and her family.
    We will definitely be returning.

We loved our stay, the site was beautiful and in a great location - remote enough to feel like you were getting away from everything but close enough to walk to shops, pubs etc as well. Pam was a brilliant host, brought ice packs for the cool box every day and had lots of useful local info. Everything was spotlessly clean, great to have use of your own toilet, showers were hot and lovely too. We stayed in the pod and everything you could need for 'camping' was provided which was great. Highly recommend for a peaceful and relaxing getaway.
