  • Family-friendly site with meadow and woodland pitches
  • In the High Weald area, a 15-minute drive from Royal Tunbridge Wells
  • Accommodation includes beds, bedding and a campers’ kitchen
Meander through the meadows and among the trees at Woodland Farm Glamping, a family-friendly site with woodland and meadow settings in 50 fantastic acres of Kent countryside. This park is in the county’s High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a 15-minute drive from Bewl Water or The Hop Farm. Also a 15-minute drive from Royal Tunbridge Wells and an hour from London, it’s an accessible choice for a glamping getaway in lush surrounds. It welcomes families, couples and solo travellers to a collection of luxury five-metre, fully-furnished bell tents with a communal area containing phone charging points. Each accommodation comes with a double bed (extra single airbeds available on request for bookings of more than two people) and all bedding included, as well as furniture, rugs and seating. Culinary-minded types will be chuffed with the campers’ kitchen containing a stove, a couple of gas canisters, crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils and equipment. Meal made? Sit outside on the roomy decking at your table and seating to dine or settle in on the camping chairs for an on-your-lap dinner eaten next to the warmth of your personal firepit. On a clear night, the sunset and stars are said to be spectacular in this rural area. For stunning daytime vistas, set off on explores of the surrounds: there are gardens, castles and beaches to get a glimpse of within a 45-minute drive, as well as activities like rock climbing in Groombridge (20 minutes), canoeing in Yalding (20 minutes) and quad biking in West Malling (30 minutes) to have a go at.

Bell tent

Liked: We had an amazing stay. The host was extremely helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. Logs and ice delivered to your tent as needed. The facilities were very crean and the location was very peaceful with lots to do in the general area. There are deer on the farm and we were lucky enough to see a group of them in a clearing one morning. Highly recommended!

Local attractions

If you’re looking to entertain the infants, head to The Hop Farm (15 minutes’ drive) for a host of family-friendly attractions including huge inflatable trampolines, laser tag, a 4D cinema and a petting zoo. Winnie-the-Pooh was dreamt up during a dawdle at Ashdown Forest (35 minutes), so this is a worthwhile spot for wanders with the tiddlers. Detour to The Llama Park enroute (25 minutes) to feed the furry creatures (and take them off on a walk if you’re feeling brave…). Here in the warmer months? Make a splash at Bewl Water’s aquapark (15 minutes) or pootle around in a pedalo on the surface of the lake. For other leisurely options, set off to the brightly coloured botanical displays at Scotney Castle (15 minutes) and Sissinghurst Castle Garden (25 minutes) or admire the turrets and moats of Hever and Leeds’ fortresses (30 and 40 minutes, respectively). Afterwards, soak up the High Weald scenery during a restful ride on the Spa Valley Railway, which chugs between Royal Tunbridge Wells and Eridge (15 and 20 minutes); for folk fonder of the coast than the countryside, the beaches of Winchelsea and Hastings are 45 minutes away.
