  • Exclusive adults only small site in stunning countryside location
  • Close to the South Downs Way and a 30-minute drive from the coast
  • Barbecues and one dog welcome; a 10-minute walk from two local pubs
Hoping to hike through Hampshire or drive round the Downs? Duncombe Farm has a farmer's field in the lush Meon Valley with your name on it. There are plenty of prime spots for countryside strolls around these parts: the South Downs Way passes right through East Meon, a pleasant parish that’s a mere ten-minute walk from site. The village also has a couple of watering holes to its name (fab for thirsty walkers after days of rural rambles). Guests can be pretty sure they’ll experience country life here: Duncombe Farm is a working arable and sheep farm surrounded by rolling hills. This pastoral spot is all about back to basics getaways and keeping things as peaceful as possible. With that in mind, this is an adults-only site (as wonderful as the wee ones are, there's no harm in steering clear of them every now and then). Facilities are kept low-key for the same reason, although basics like toilets are covered, and guests are free to set up a barbecue or use the site's firepit to build a blaze.  There are plenty of off-site amenities within strolling distance: a village church, food shop, bus stop, post office and two pubs are all a 10-minute walk away. Dogs are welcome here (but just one per pitch, and please remember to keep them at a respectful distance from your woolly neighbours).

Electric optional grass motorhome pitch

Liked: For us it was the perfect weekend get away. Everything was as it was described in the information provided but even better 😀. The host was fantastic and the near by village provided all that we could have wished for. The location meant we could easily take our dog for a long walk without going near a road and the scenery was exceptional. For us - top of the return list! Thank you Duncombe Farm 😀😀😀👍

Disliked: Nothing.

Electric optional grass motorhome pitch

Liked: Peaceful, relaxed surroundings. Spacious level pitches. Pub with good food (Ye Olde George) only 10 minutes walk

Disliked: Only one shower on site, also unlit so torch needed

From the manager: Thanks for your review. Our site is in the South Downs National Park dark skies area so our guests enjoy clear views of starry skies, uninterrupted by bright lighting. We have low lit solar lights at entrances and facilities but whilst camping a torch or phone torch is required, especially if walking back from the pub across the field!

Electric optional grass motorhome pitch

Liked: Fantastic site. Great and good walks from the site If you have the chance to have the eggs and bacon 🥓 do ⭐️ Nice to have hot running water in shower and to wash up with. Very clean site and staff very friendly.

Disliked: Could do with a extra shower. Only due to when site is busy it’s a long wait. But all good

Local attractions

Duncombe Farm is in the South Downs National Park, a landscape of red brick villages, rolling hills and crystal-clear chalk streams, and close to the South Downs Way (a 100-mile trail that stretches all the way from Winchester to Eastbourne). There are plenty of shorter walks here too, though, if you don’t want to get puffed out: head to Beacon Hill Nature Reserve (20 minutes' drive) for spectacular views over the Meon Valley and a manageable six-mile circular stroll.  The coast is also within easy reach: the nearest beaches are at Hayling Island (30 minutes) or the Witterings (40 minutes). Make tracks to the latter for far-reaching views over Chichester Harbour (pack your binoculars, too – it's a birdlife hub). Sticking with the nautical theme, Portsmouth's historic dockyard (30 minutes) is also worth a gander if you fancy exploring Tudor, Napoleonic and modern naval history.  Guests of a literary bent, meanwhile, should head to Jane Austen's former home (20 minutes) or live out their period fantasies at Hinton Ampner, a local stately home (20 minutes). Petersfield (15 minutes) also has three well-stocked bookshops if you fancy getting some reading in during your stay.
